NEWS ? PEOPLE MRS. EMORY Hl'NNICUTT Society Editor, Telephone 211 MISS HENDRIX BECOMES | BRIDE OF G. W. REAP Miss Woodine Hendrix, daugh ter of Mrs Charles Hendrix, of Gainesville, Fla., and of the late Mr Hendrix, and Gordon W. Reap, of Tampa, Fla , were mar ried in a quiet ceremony at St. Agnes Episcopal church here Monday at noon. The Rev. A. Rufus Morgan, rector, officiated, using the double ring ceremony. The church was beautifully decorated with masses of dog wood and lighted cathedral tapers. Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones present ed a program of wedding music, playing "To A Wild Rose", by MacDowell, "Liebestraum", by Liszt, arid "O Perfert Love". The traditional wedding marches were used. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother, Hugh M. Hendrix, of Trenton, Fla. She wore a powder blue costume suit, an original model, with navy accessories, and carried a white prayer book, on which was a white orchid Mrs. Harley Lyle, Jr., was her sister's only attendant. She wore a tan bengaline suit with brown accessories Her corsage was of yellow sweetheart roses. The groom had as his best man his br?ther-in-law, George Hardy, of Jacksonville, Fla. Ushers were Allan Brooks, Jr., and J. M. Hendrix, of Palatka, Fla. Following the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Lyle, Jr., enter tained the wedding party and out-of-town guests at a lunch eon at their home on Harrison avenue, after which the bride and groom left on a wedding trip to New Orleans, La. The bride attended Florida State College for Women, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is a char ter member of the Gainesville Junior league. Mr. and Mrs. Reap will make their home in Tampa. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Higdon and daughter, Julia Ann, are spending a fortnight in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Brumfield and daughter, Mary, of Char lotte, spent the week-end with Mrs. Brumfield's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Steele. MISS ANNIE LOU HUSCUSSON MISS HUSCUSSON WILL WED JAMES H. TALLENT Miss Fannie Edwards, of Franklin, Route 3, has announc ed the engagement of her niece, Miss Annie Lou Huscusson, to James H. Tailent, Jr. Miss Huscusson, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G- c. Huscusson, is a graduate of the Franklin High school, where she majored in commerce. For the past two years she has be?n em ployed as cashier at The Frank lin Press. Mr. Tailent, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. (Jim) Tai lent, of Franklin, Route 3, at tended the Maoon County schools, and spent about 18 months in the armed forces, a year of which was overseas. He is now employed in Gastonia. The wedding plans have not been announced. MISS WILLIAMS, FORMER FRANKLIN RESIDENT, WEDS Miss Louise Claire Williams, of Clarkston, Ga., formerly of Franklin, became the bride of the Rev. Hunter J. Bassett, of Decatur, Ga., in a double ring ceremony at Glenn Memorial chapel, Atlanta, Mjirch 19 The Rev. James R. Ray, as sisted by the Rev. Charles T. Gray, performed the ceremony. Mrs. Bassett is the daughter of Mrs. N. G. Williams, of Clarkeston, and of the late Dr. Williams. She carriea a white Bible, topped with a white orchid. Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Bassett are making their home at 368 Mell avenue, Atlanta. BLAINES ARE HONORED ON WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. R. E McKelvey entertained with a buffet sup per at their home on Bidwell street Tuesday evening, honor ing Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Blaine. The occasion was the Blaines' seventh wedding anniversary. Mrs. Blaine was presented a number of attractive gifts, arid cards were played, following the supper. Guests, in addition to the honorees, included Mr. and Mrs Bill Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dean. E. C. Kingsberry, of Los Ang eles, Calif., former Franklin resident, was here last week-end on business. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Steele have returned to their home at Norcrpss, Ga., after a visit with Mr. Steele's brother, W A. Steele, and Mrs. Steele, Mrs. L. A. Ross Is a patient at Angel hospital, suffering from a broken leg, which she received in a fall last Thursday. Mrs. Ross was on Wayah Bald with a group when she turned her ankle and fell. Her condition is reported by hospital atten dants as good. Mrs. T J. Johnston has re turned to her home here after a visit with her sister, Mrs. John Toomer, at Charlotte. Mrs. H E. Freas Is visiting her son, Edward Freas, and famil> at Walnut Cove. Mrs. I. B. Southerland and son, I. B., Jr., of Winston-Salem, are visiting Mrs. Southerland 's parents, Mr. and Mrs Carl Slag le, on Franklin, Route 1. George A. Conley, of Macon, Ga, and Franklin, who under went an operation at Emory hospital in Atlanta a few weeks ago, and Mrs. Conley have re turned to their home on Iotia street. Following the operation, Mr. Conley spent some time at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Grower T. Sykes, in Marietta, recuper ating. Mr and Mrs. E. W. Heinrich, of Ann Arbor, Mich., have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Swan. Mr. Henrich is a mem ber of the faculty of the Uni versity of Michigan. Mrs. Reby Tessier is in Louisi ana, visiting her sons, Francis and Jack, and her daughter, Mrs. Bill Smith. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Duff, of Chattanooga, Tenn., were guests over the week-end of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Gnuse. Langdon Johnson left Tues day for Burlington, Vt. Mrs, W. V. Swan and child ren are spending this week in Agusta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Manning this week moved to tne Bradley apartments on Bidwell street. Roane Bradley, of the Nan tahala National Forest staff, is on a detail in New Bern. He ex pects to be away about three weeks. Young People's Sing To Be Held At Longview The Young People's Commun ity sing will be held Sunday, starting at 1:30 p. m , at the Longview Baptist church, three miles from Franklin, on the Georgia highway, it has been announced. Singers from near by counties and from Georgia are expected. Persons who wish the group to meet at their church in May are asked to be present and make arrangements with Ernest Vinson, director.
