MISS GRACE TALLENT WEDS
WAYNE LINWOOD PLOTT
Miss Grace Tallent, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Tallent, of
Franklin, became the bride of
Wayne Linwood Plolt, son of
J. H. Plott, of Canton, and
of the late Mrs. Flora Kinsland
Plott* in a ceremony at the
Central Methodist church in
Asheville Saturday, May 1, at 4
p. m. The Rev. C W. Kirby,
pastor, pronounced the vows.
The altar of the church was
decorated with floor vases of
whi^e gladiolus, white snap
dragons, and white carnations,
against a background of ferns,
mountain laurel and spruce.
Three seven-branched candel
abra were used among the
greenery and flowers. Bows of
white satin ribbon marked the
pews for the family.
Prior to the ceremony, a pro
gram of weddrng music was pre
sented by Miss Mary Louise
Cannon, of Canton, organist,
and Dan Cook, of Candler, vo
calist.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her brother, Claude
Tallent, wore a white gabar
dine suit with n^vy and white
accessories. She carried a white
prayer book to which were at
tached two white orchids tied
with maline and showered with
lilies of the valley.
The bride had as her matron
of honor, Mrs. D. B Vance, of
Canton.
The bridegroom had as his
best man E. W. Jones, of Clyde
Ushers were Edgar Norman
Plott of Canton and Fred H.
Plott, o i Candler, brothers of
the bridegroom.
Immediately following the
wedding the couple left for a
wedding trip to poir^s in Flor
ida.
The bride is a graduate of
the Franklin High school. Since
her graduation she has held a
position with the Champion
Paper and Fibre company in
Canton. '
Mr. Plott received his educa
tion at Bethel High school. He
is a veteran of World War II,
having served in the European
Theatre for 28 months with the
30th division. He is now con
nected with the American Enka
Corporation.
Among the' out-of-town guests
attending the wedding were Mr.
and Mrs. Jess Tallent, of Frank
lin, and Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Tallent, of Morganton.
MRS. GAINES ENTERTAINS
BRIDGE CLUB AT HER HOME
Mrs. Robert R. Gaines enter
tained her bridge club last Fri
day afternoon at her home. Two
tables were in play.
The home was attractively
decorated with bowls of spring
flowers.
Mrs. Grant Zickgraf was win
ner of the prize for high score,
and Mrs. Frank L. Henry, Jr.,
received the consolation prize.
Those playing included Mrs.
B. L. McGlamery, Mrs Mac Ray
Whitakbr, Mrs. Frank Duncan,
Mrs. Ben Grant, Mrs. T. H. Fagg,
Mrs. Zickgraf and Mrs. Henry.

Mrs. Edna Pruitt, of Gneiss,
is a patient at Angel clinic,
where she is reported in serious
condition. She is suffering from
blood poisoning.
Ernest Cabe is a patient at
Angel clinic, where he Is under
treatment for a severe axe
wound of the foot. He accident
ally slashed his foot while cut
ting timber.
W. R. Lunsford, of Nantahala,
who underwent an operation at
Angel clinic last Sunday, is re
ported in satisfactory condition.
L. B. Angel, of Hatnes City,
Fla., was here over the week
end, spending Mother's day with
his mother, Mrs. T. W. Angel,
Sr.
W. P. Landrum, who has been
at his home in the Cullasaja
community for several weeks,
returned to Daytona Beach,
Fla., Saturday. Mr. Landrum
was ill a few days earlier, and
his son, Ralph Landrum, of
Johnson City, Tenn., and his
daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Johnson, of
Daytona Beach, Fla., came to
Franklin last week to see him.
Although he is much improved,
Mr and Mrs. Johnson took him
back to Florida with them,
where he plans to remain until
school is out, when he and the
Johnson family will come here 1
for the summer.
