Funeral services for Jerome
Scott Edwards, two-year old
con of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Ed
wa-'ls, of Akron, Ohio, and
grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Southards, of the Cartoogechaye
community, were held at 2 p. m.
Sunday at Maiden's Chapel
Methodist church.
The child died in an Akron
hospital last Wednesday night.
The service was conducted by
the pastor, Mrs. R. H. Hull, and
the Rev. C. E. Murray, Frank
lin Methodist pastor. Inter
ment was in the church ceme
tery.
Pallbearers were Don Roane,
Fred Nichols, Jr., Sonny Beck,
and Dean Hopkins.
Arrangements were under the
direction of Bryant funeral
home.
Hospital Staff To Take

Dr. C. H. Hemphill, of High
lands, will leave November 18
to spend two mon'hs at Daven
port, Fla., and during his ab
sence members of the staff of
Angel hospital will take over
his office, it was announced
this week. Dr. Hemphill's of
fice will be open each week
day from 1 to 4 p. m.

'Operation Miki'
Donald E. Stamey, of 405 N.
16th street. Griffin, Ga., and
Franklin, Route 2, is serving as
a crew member of the attack
transport USS Noble, which is
participating this fall in "Oper
ation Miki", the largest exer
cise of its kind ever to be
staged in the Pacific.
Before entering the navy In
June, 1946, Mr. Stamey was
graduated from the Spalding
High school. He is 20 years old
? at present, and ho'ds the navy
i rating of pipefitter second class.
Recently stationed at San
Diego, Calif., he is the son of
Ernest B. Stamev, of Franklin,
Route 2, and of Mrs. Louise
(Stamey) Riggins, of Griffin,
,Ga.
