the bride of Overton Chambers,
II, son of Mrs. William Way, of
Knoxville, Tenn , and of Over
ton Chambers, II, son of Mrs.
William Way, of Knoxville at
the Episcopal Church of the In
carnation Friday alternoon, at
5 o'clock.
The Rt. Rev. M. George Hen
ry, bishop of the Episcopal dio
cese of Western North Carolina,
performed the double ring cere
mony, with the Rev. A. Rufus
Morgan, priest in charge, assist
ing.
The church was decorated
with rhododendron maximum
and tall baskets of royal and
winged woods fern, intersi>ersed
with azure skies and mount
cloud iris, with arrangements of
the white iris on the altar.
Candelabra with cathedral can
dles were used, and in each of
the stained glass windows was
a fan-shaped fern arrangement,
centered with a lighted candle.
Pews were marked with green
ery and white satin ribbon.
Mrs. A. C. Holt, organist, pre
sented a program of wedding
music, and Mrs. Sydney King
Russell, soloist, of New York
City and Palm Beach, sang
"Because", "Oh, Promise Me",
and "Fulfillment", the latter an
original composition by Mr.
Russell, who accompanied her
at the organ.
The bride, who entered on the
arm of her father, wore a wed
ding gown of Duchess satin and
imported Chantilly lace made
with portrait necklace. The
tight-fitting bodice was fash
ioned of lace and featured a
wide pointed lace bertha. The
full skirt was of satin with a
motif of lace from Just below
the waistline ending in a cathe
dral train. Her full-length
gloves were of matching lace,
and her two-tiered veil was of
Imported Illusion attached to a
lace coronet, trimmed with seed
pearls and satin. She wore a
tiny gold cross, the gift of her
grandfather, and carried a
white prayer book, the gift of
the groom's mother, from which
showered a bouquet of white

orchids and valley lilies.
Mrs. Sarah Hall Orr, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor.
She wore a full-skirted strap
less gown of lavender net with
satin midriff, lace top and net
stole. Her headdress was a
cloche of matching net and sat
in, and she carried a lavender
orchid fan.
The bridesmaids were Mrs.
Paul Chmar, of Fort Campbell,
Ky., sister of the groom; Miss
Joann Floyd, of Granite Falls;
Miss Virginia Westbrook, of
Greenville, S. C.; and Miss Viv
ian Price, of Magnolia, Miss.
They wore dresses and caps
Identical to that of the matron
of honor, except in cloud pink,
and carried net fans covered
with pink orchids.
Richard Lee, of Puerto Rico,
classmate of the groom, served
as best man. Ushers were Tudor
Gilbert Hall, brother of the
bride, James Coleman of Dart
mouth college, Hanover, N. H.,
William Hutchinson, of Mt.
Clair, N. J., and Tom Dial, of
East Orange, N. J.
The bride's mother wore a
full-length dress of Alice blue
chiffon and lace with match
ing hat, and a corsage of white
orchids. Her maternal grand
mother, Mrs. E. R. Gilbert, wore
a fuU-length mauve crepe gown
with deep purple orchids. The
groom's mother was attired In
a "own of Ice blue brocade, and
wore a shoulder bouquet* of
white orchids.
Following the cenvnonv, the
bride's parents entertained with
a reception at the Chambers
home on Buck Creek road. The
bride's table was covered with
an Italian cut-work cloth, and
modern arrangements of flow
ers and candles were used in
decorating. Assisting in serving
were Mrs. Eliot Caziarc and
aunts of the bride, Mrs. Charles
J. Anderson, Miss Caroline Hall,
and Mrs. Roy Potts; cousins
assisting were the Misses Peggy
Potts, Angela Anderson and
Mary Deas Anderson. After the
reception the couple left for a
wedding trip to Bermuda. They
will be at home at 137 Wigwam
circle In Hanover, N. H., after
June 30.
The bride was graduated
from Brenau academy, Gaines
ville, Oa. She Is a member and
past president of Sigma Beta
Delta sorority. Mr. Chambers Is
a graduate of Lawrencevllle
School for boys, Lawrencevllle,
N. J., and is a student at
Dartmouth college.

pained Mr. Wood to Fairfax,
Va., following his week-end
visit here. Mr. and Mrs. Wood
plan to make their future home
in Fairfax, where Mr. Wood has
employment for some time.

MRS. M'CALL
Funeral Held Friday;
For Clear Creek
Woman, Aged 71
Mrs. Sarah Jane McCall died
at her home in the Clear i
Creek community last Thursday.
Mrs. McCall, who was 71, had
been in iU health tor several
years.
8he was the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Arrow Owens, and
was born September 17, 1879.
A member of the Clear Creek
Baptist church, she was widely
known and loved in that sec
tion.
Funeral services were held at
the Clear Creek Baptist church
Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock,
with the Rev. J. O. Nix officiat
ing. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Pallbearers were Taft Henry,
Lloyd McCall, Lennox Webb,
Hubert Wilson Bryan McCall
and Arthur Talley.
Flower girls were the Misses
Leona McCall, Viola Jenkins,
Haiel McCall, Shelly McCall and
Lois Bryson.
Survivors include her hus
band, Thomas McCall; three
daughters, Mrs. Charlie McCall,
of Onelss; Mrs. Claude Pen
land, of Franklin, and Mrs. Ben
Webb, of Highlands; four sons,
Herman McCall, of Eustis, Fla.,
Tollver and Cecil, of Clear
Creek, and J. B. McCall, of
Highlands; 28 grandchildren,
and five great-grandchildren.
Surviving also are one brother
Virgil Owens, of Clayton, Ga.,
and one sister, Mrs. Ellge Mc
Call, of Satolah, Ga.
Joint Vacation
Bible School Planned By
Three Churches
The Highlands Episcopal,
Methodist, and Presbyterian
churches will begin a joint va
cation Bible school at 9 o'clock
Monday morning at the Pres
byterian church.
Mrs. Robert E. Early will be
director of the school. The
school is planned 'or two weeks,
with a two-hour session each
morning. These churches are
asked to hold a preliminary
registration Sunday.
As a courtesy to the Rev.
Arthur Ranson, acting pastor of
the Presbyterian church, who
is moving his family to High
lands this week, the school was
delayed in its starting date.
