I Bethel Community Elects Groups For Contest; Wfll Meet Tonight At a meeting last week, citi zens of the Bethel community met to elect committees to serve during this year's rural com munity development contests. As its first project, the com munity voted to finish con struction on the Bethel Metho dist Church basement so it can be used for meetings. Committees named Include: Building: Wiley Clark, chair man, Pritchard Peek, Troy Shook, Miss {Catherine Norton, and Mrs. Graham Grindstaff. Ways and Feans: Mrs. Boise Hall, Graham Grlndstaff, Mr*. Troy Shook, Frank Sanders, and Bill Higdon. Scrapbook: The Rev. R. D. Burnette. Mailbox: Mrs. Grace Norris, Mrs. Arthur McConnell, Prank Sanders, Wallace Morgan, and Mrs. Rose Clark. Eight Women Attend Legion Meet Saturday Eight members of the local American Legion Auxiliary at tended a meeting of the 20th district in Murphy Saturday. They were Mrs. Pearl Hunter, Mrs. A. R. Higdon, Mrs. Ellen Smith, Mrs. Joseph W. Pouts, Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones, Mrs. John Wasilik, Jr., Mrs. Zeb Conley, and Mrs. E. W. Renshaw. Arlene Dahl "CARIBBEAN" BOY INJURED IN ACCIDENT Jones Child Receive* Fractured Skull In Bicycle Fall Nfcwton Jones, nine-year -old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Jones, of Nantahala, was ser iously Injured In a bicycle acci dent near the Nantahala School about noon last Wednesday. The child was riding with an other boy, Grey Grant, when the bicycle skidded, throwing him headlong into the gravel road. He received a fractured skull and was taken to an Andrews hospital. Later - he was moved to a hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. Friday, the hospital re ported his condition as fair. New Building Going Up; Will House Laundry T. W. Angel, Jr., is building a new building on East Palmer Street next to Macon Dry Cleaners and has leased it to Roger Sutton and Curtis Pear son for the future home of The Franklin Laundry, which the two men recently purchased from Paul Carpenter. . Mr. Angel estimated the coqt >f the 45 by 40 foot one-story building at $6,000. It is of block construction and is more than half completed.
