P.T.A. Votes
To Hold Sale
For Band Aid
The Franklin P. T. A., at its
meeting October 18, voted to
sponsor a harvest sale November
20, the proceeds to go to the
Franklin School band.
The event is to be held at the
East Franklin School, and thai
school's P. T. A. has accepted
an Invitation to cooperate.
The plan calls for the parents
of each school child to send some
item - potatoes, apples, pies,
cakes, automobiles tires, or any
other useful articles - to be auc
tioned at the sale. The project
was explained by Mrs. Frank
Killian.
The program dealt with the
Franklin Garden Club's "Don't
Be a Litterbug" campaign. Mrs.
R. R. Gaines made a brief talk,
and nine children, who designed
their own costumes, presented a
skit. Those taking part were John
Killian, Ann Hall, Buddy Ledford,
Linda Morrow, Larry Dryman,
Billy Joe Hurst, Linda Smith,
Fred Bulgin, and Ann Pagg.
Mrs. Holland McSwain, the as
sociation's delegate to the recent
parent education workship at
Montreat. reported on that meet
ing. Mrs. Fred Vaughn, member
ship chairman, reported $92
raised in the drive for member.?.
First prize for getting members
went to Paul Cabe, and second
to Stevie Brown.
Mrs. J. A. Flanagan led in the
singing of rounds, and the Rev.
Bryan Hatchett conducted the
devotional. Edwin Williams was
program chairman, and Mrs.
W. Renshaw, president, presided.
