MISS DANIELS FETES GUESTS WITH TEA Miss Evelyn Hope Daniels en tertained at her home, "Dixie Hall", with a tea Tuesday ol last week, honoring her house guests, Mrs. Virgil Jones, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Mrs. Lindesay Parrott, of New York City. A number of friends called during the afternoon. MISS CAROLINE CRAWFORD FETED AT DESSERT BRIDGE Mrs. Andrew Jones and Miss Beth Jones entertained with a dessert bridge and canasta party and surprise kitchen shower Tuesday evening at the home of the former, as a cour tesy to Miss Caroline Crawford, bride-elect of Lt. Fred Henry. A color scheme of yellow and green was carried out in the decorations and refreshments. Lime floats and cookies were served. Fifteen were present. MISS CRAWFORD HONORED AT BRIDGE LUNCHEON Miss Caroline Crawford, whose engagement to Lt. Fred Henry, of Ellerbe, recently was an nounced, was honored Saturday with a bridge luncheon by Mrs. Roy .M. Biddle, Jr., at her home here. Gladioli and mixed summer flowers were used throughout the house for decoration. The 1 bridge tables were centered with bowls of sweet peas and j the place cards were decorated j with sprays of lilly-of-the val- ! I ley and minature wedding bells, Bibles, and wedding rings. Miss Crawford was presented i with a corsage and a compote of Fostoria milk glass by the hostess. The guest list included, in addition to the honoree, her mother, Mrs. Gilmer L. Craw ford, Miss Patti Phillips, Mrs. Gene Mashburn, Miss Julia Moody, Mrs. Charles Shields, Jr., Miss Martha Ann Stockton, Miss Wilma Renshaw, Miss Marianne Killian, Miss Laura Lyle, Miss Carolyn Bryson, Miss Beth Jones, and Miss Freda Siler. MISS LANDRUM HONORED AT MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER Miss Patricia Landrum, bride elect of Curley Walker, was honored with a miscellaneous shower Saturday night at her home in the Holly Springs com munity. The hostesses were Mrs. Sam Winkleblack, Mrs. Dewey Cor bin, Mrs. Earl Justice, Mrs. W. O. Crawford, and Mrs. Dale Thompson. Mixed flowers were used throughout the house. The groom is the son 1 of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Bunton, of Dillard, Ga., Route 1. The Rev. Carey P. Herring j performed the ceremony. The bride wore a waltz- j length gown of white embroid ered Swiss organdy over taf- 1 feta. The dress was designed, with round decollette neckline of Illusion, short shirred sleeves, and bouffant skirt with scalloped hemline. Her two tiered finger.tip veil of silk 11 i luslon was attached to a pearl tiera sprinkled with rhlne ' stones. She carried a white ? stones. She carried a white prayer book topped with a | white orchid. Mrs. N. H. Barfield attended her sister as matron of honor. The bride is employed with ( the Carolina Solite Company In Charlotte. The groom was graduated i from Western Carolina Teach ers College. He did post gradu : ate study at N. C. State Col lege, Raleigh, and served two I years overseas with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. i He is associated with the Char lotte branch of the Burroughs Machine Company. The couple is making their home in Gastonia. Mr. Mielke served as his son's i best man. Miss Mary Faye Han ahan, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. The bride, given in marriage | by her father, wore a gown of Chantilly lace and net over j taffeta. Her fingertip veil of imported bridal illusion was at tached to a tiara of white em- 1 broidered roses. Her bouquet was a white orchid surrounded by white roses and lillies of the valley. Mrs. Mielke is a graduate of Dreher High School, Class of j 1953, and of Draughton's Busi ness College. Mr. Mielke attended Frank ] lin Elementary School, and is a graduate of Dreher High j School, Columbia, Class of 1951. i He attended the University of ; South Carolina, where he was ! a member of the Phi Kappa | Sigma Fraternity. He has just ! completed his training as a jet pilot in the U. S. Air Force, having received his commission j as second lieutenant. Slagle had as guests last week Mrs. Slagle's nephew, George Bowles, Jr., and Mrs. Bowles, and their four children, of Roanoke, Va. Ned Slagle, of Sylva, spent last week visiting Randolph and Fred Bulgin. Mrs. Pearl Hunter has re turned from Junaluska, where she spent two weeks attending the leadership school for kind ergarten training. Add flour gradually which has been sifted with soda and cream of tarter. Form in long rolls and chill. Slice and bake. These may be kept in refrigerator and baked a few at a time.
