Bowers Receives Promotion S/Sgt. Charles E. Bowers re cently was promoted to his present rank while in service at Maxwell Air Force Base In Montgomery, Ala., it has been announced. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie J. Bowers, of Franklin, Route 5, he has been at Maxwell since last November. Prior to then he serv ed overseas in the European area. He just recently reenlisted for six more years. His wife is Mrs. Bessie V. Bow ers, of Franklin. She expects to join him in Alabama shortly. The average cow last year gave 5,500 pounds of milk. Dr. Bulgin Passes In Long Beach, Calif. Dr. Ellwood J. Bulgin, of Long Beach, Calif., died August 13 at his home In Long Beach, after a lingering Illness. He was 87 years old. Dr. Bulgin was a brother of Mrs. W. B. McQulre, J. E. Bul gin, and the late O. M. Bulgin, of Franklin. He lived here for a number of years. Burlington Increasing Production Wages J. C.
