Sometimes, a bargain is measured by how little you pay.
Sometimes, it's measured by how mucb you get.
But here's one that's a whopping bargain by both measures.
Because right now ? for the leastest money of the year ?
you can buy the mostest Buick in history.
That, Mister, is because we're adding a profit-sharing
bonus allowance on top of the long trade-in allowances
we've been making all year.
And when we say the "mostest" Buick, we mean the
most-wanted Buick ever built ? the one that has broken
every record in the book? outselling by far all other cars
except the two most widely known smaller ones.
We mean the Buick that brings you the most for your
money in terms of mighty V8 Power ? of real family-siz?
room? of bold fresh styling. The one that gives you the
most buoyant ride ever born of all-coil springing.
And we mean the only car blessed by the smooth magic
of Variable Pitch Dynaf low* ? world's first transmission
built on the switch-pitch principle of the modern plane's
propeller.
Come on in. We're ready and waiting to make youj the
deal of your life on the most thrilling Huick ever.
* Variable Pitch Dynafiow is the only Dynadou Buick builds
today. It is standard on Roadmaster, optional at modest extra
cost on other Series.

Youth Center Gimmick
t
J. P. Br nay ?
Ignatius O'Toole leveled a
bony finger on a line with my
ample nose and observed, some
what unkindly;
"You're a nincompoop."
A remark of this nature is
not unusual from Ignatius, who
' through it all stands as my
favorite leprechaun and coun
selor on a wide variety of sub
jects.
Nevertheless, I objected to be
ing called a nincompoop:
"Why," I demanded to know,
"did you call me that, you lit
tle green runt?"
Iggy shifted his weight to his
other foot.
"You're a nincompoop for
several reasons, but right now
for overlooking a very obvious
way to build this Youth Center
everyone in town is wringing
their hands over."
"And how is that?" I asked
sarcastically.
"Just this," Iggy explained.
"Have you characters complete
ly i forgotten how they did
things in the old days? Back
then it was an all-out effort
to survive. By jingos they got
the job done TOGETHER . . .
that's the key to this whole
Youth Center idea ? TOGETH
ER."
I settled back to listen. Iggy
balanced precariously on the
edge of my typewriter and then
continued:
"Every successful idea must
have a gimmick; that is, some
thing that bands folks together.
This Youth Center idea is bog
ging down because they've fail
ed to come up with a gimmick."
"And I suppose you have
one?" I astod.
"You're durned tootin' I
have!"
"May I be so bold as to ask
what it is?"
Iggy looked me up and down
with a glare of tolerant con
tempt.
"You're just a nincompoop."
j he said for the third time.
"This gimmick is right in front
' of you and you. don't see it.
j Think now . . . just the other
day that plumber fellow. H. G.
Welch, w.as talking with you.
Remember? Good! And he told
i you he would be willing to do
nate his labor FREE to install
the plumbing if they decided to
put up the center Well?"
The light began to dawn.
"You mean ..." I asked.
"Exactly," Iggy answered. ?
"That's a terrific gimmick,
pal . . . something like an old
timey house raising where
everyone in town donates some
thing . . labo"- materials, ad
vice . . . that's a real idea!"
"Now you're catching on,"
I Iggy observed. "You're a nin
compoop,' but you're catching
! on."
"I understand A. B. Slagie
is donating land for the Youth
Center, so that means two peo
ple have offered their services."
i I mused to myself. "And if
| some others would chip in and
give labor and materials the
Youth Center could be built for
: about half the estimated cost."
"A sterling deduction, pal."
"Of course, the students
themselves should volunteer to
I carry a lot of the labor load,
since it is going to be their
center. Iggy, you're a brainy
little cuss."
He blushed a bright green 'as
leprechauns are prone to dot.
"Ah, you're just saying that be
cause it's true."

MOVIE STAR MATERIAL
FOR THE VERY ASKING
Looks like the West Coast
genius, Walt Disney, is coming
here (Ga. and N. C > to film the
story of a Civil War train
chase between the Blue and
the Grey.
As I understand the set-up,
the Tallulah Falls Railway is
just right far the part the rail
road must play in the picture.
And I might add I am de
lighted they have finally found
something useful for the old
TF to do. The railroad's history
has been one of more downs
than ups, and I doubt if any
other single utility in the area
has suffered more abuse than
the TF. They've always grumb
led about the service it offers
' and, for want of nothing bet
ter to complain about, there
are those who condemn the
railroad - because they must
' cross "the bumpy tracks." _
Now. this once regal lady of
a by-gone era is prepared to
bring a small measure of fame
to this locale through the mag
ic of the motion pictures.
The old girl was picked for
this particular movie because
her tracks are unique and the
terrain along side is not marred
by modern-day buildings and
billboards.
Those wooden trestles folks
have criticized and laughed
about are perfectly in tune with
the 1860's, the period of the
movie.
My hat's off to the Tallulah
Falls. She's repaying those un
kind remarks by giving a real
boost to her area.
This column is betting the
Tallulah Falls movie is going
to be just one of several to be
filmed around here, now that
the TF. with her unique tracks
and wooden trestles, has caught
the fancy of Hollywood^
