Bank Of Franklin
To Go On Par
The^Bank of Franklin will become a par bank, beginning
October 1, 1955.
In compliance with a resolution of our Board of Directors,
we havfe agreed to remit at par for all our items presented to us
for payment through the Charlotte Branch of the Federal Re
serve Bank of Richmond, on and after October 1.
Par means "equality". And when a banking institution be
comes a par bank, it means in simple terms, it pays checks and
other items drawa on it at face value; that is, without charging
exchange.
This is another progressive step, taken by your bank, at con
siderable loss of revenue, in our continued efforts to provide
better service to our customers.

to finishing them."
And so, another act of gen

the center.
The ball Is rollin'.
Let's see: Allen Siler and A.
B. Slagle are donating the land;
plumber H. G. Welch has of

and now Mr. Young the floor

That's a starter
But there're plenty more jobs.

JUST DRIFTING
ALONG, THANKS!
By the time this paper hits
the street, this column will be
off on a week's vacation.
The success of the venture is
somewhat doubtful, however.
Last year, I planned to take
a vacation ? the first in sev
eral years.
I came within a frazz (and
that's as close as you can get
without gettln') of being a
corpse In Tennessee following
an untimely emergency appen
dectomy (anyone like to talk
about their operation?).
This year could well see my
obituary written ? but come
you-know-what and high water
I'm goina try again.
This time, unlike last year, I
don't have any particular des
tination In mind. I'm Just going

But where ever I go I'm go

Why? Because I Intend to
. gawk and stare at anything
and everything as I wend my
leisurely way to where ever It
Is that I'm going.
Everytime I take a trip
(business or pleasure), It's rush,
push all the way there and
back. The only scenery I glean
Is the line down the middle of
the highway.
But on this trip? An 80-year
old tortoise will be speeding If
he keeps up with me!
I Intend to stop whenever the
fancy strikes me ? be it to
look in a gopher hole or wat<;h

movie I'd like to see I'm gonna
stop and see It. If I decide to
take a cat nap In some sag*
field, I'm gonna be snoring In a
couple of shakes.
In other words, I'm In no
hurry on this one.
Of course, I seriously doubt
that I'll make It past "Logan
ville" In a week, but at least I
won't be rushin'!
