Mr. and Mrs. Call Talley and daughter have moved to Robbing ville, where Mr. Talley will be a teacher in the public schools. Mrs. L. E. Walter spent a few days last week in Canton, where she visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Shirrell. The Rev. L. Eugene Walter spent Monday of last week in Rutherford, attending a Sunday School meeting. Dr. and Mrs. Charles R. Bittle and children spent a few days In Atlanta, Ga.. last week. The Rev. and Mrs. R. B. DuPree and children have returned to Tamassee. S. C., for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Page and two I children, of Middlesboro. Ky.. re cently spent the week-end here visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Miller. Tom Chastain, who is sta tioned at Ft. Wayne, Detroit, with the Army, is spending an 18-dav leave here with his wife and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Sheiwin and children have returned to their home in St. Petersburg, Fla., after spending the summer here. Mrs. H. H. Little has returned to Highlands for the fall after spending a year away. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wilson, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, are spending several days here with Mr. and Mrs. Mack Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller, of Salisbury, spent the week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. John Mil ler and J. R. Miller. J. R. Miller plans to leave this week for Jacksonville, Fla., where he will spend the winter. He has been residing with his son, John Miller, this summer. Mr. and Mrs. Olen Coley and chilc. en, Quin and Dorothy, ol Birmingham. Ala., were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Waldpn. Mr. and Mrs. Epbrum Prince and two children. James and Mar garet, of Aiken. S. C., were recent guests of Mr. Prince's mother, Mrs Elizabeth Prince. Mrs. A. R. Nail recently spent, several days in Horwalk. Conn., where she visited her two sons. Bird, of Western Carolina Col lege, was the guest speaker at the September 6 supper meet ing of the Rotary Club here. He discussed the college and its work. Thirty attending the meeting; 13 regular members, two guests, and 15 visiting Rotarians. Boy Scouts Hold First Meet Of Year HIGHLANDS? The Boy Scouts held their first meeting of the new school year last Thursday afternoon, September 8. All boys over eleven years of | age are invited to attend these meetings, which are held every 1 Thursday afternoon at 3:30 in the old school building. At the Scout court of honor at Sylva September 9, Jack Wil son and Don Hopper were pro moted to first class. Jack also ? received a Woodcarving merit badge.
