State College extension specialist in home management. ] They know more than the best way to do each of the jobs they dn every day. They know how to fit them all together well. Before they start to work each day, they plan what jobs must be done, who will do them, when and where, and how to do them the quickest, easiest way. In their minds, they lay their day's or week's work out before them and map out a plan of action to follow ? all of this before they actually begin work. That's good time management, declares Miss Every homemaKer plans, but few take time to write out any of their plans. But don't waste wnisnant. i time and energy trying to re member or being sorry you for got. Keep a pad and pencil in I several places in the house for ] convenience in jotting down plans, ideas, things to do, things to buy. Time for this will be ! time well spent. Your success in housekeeping will depend to a large extent i upon the interest and coopera tion of family members who share the work in doint; houss j hold tasks. The wise home | manager will plan household I activities with her family _so^ i that each member will be re I sponsible for doing definite ! things. Household tasks can be made attractive and interesting < to children, says Miss Whis | nant. Children very quickly 1 catch the spirit which older j family members show in their attitudes and work habits. If ] jobs are performed happily, children are more apt to learn I and enjoy sharing in the re | sponsibilities and work of keep ing the home running smoothly. Few Korean War GI Trainees Change Courses Korea veteran-trainees under the GI Bill ar'e not 'course hoppers.'' according to a Vet erans Administration study just made public. The study discloses that 95 per cent of all Korean GI Bill trainees have stayed with the : 1 courses they chose originally. So far, only five per cent have changed their courses ? and many of these switched to studies more in keeping with their aptitudes and abilities. Under the Korean GI Bill, a veteran has the right to change i . I his course or study once ? and no more. The VA said that during the three years the Korean GI Bill has been in effect, more than 1,000,000 veterans so far have ! entered training. About half ( enrolled in colleges and uni- 1 verslties; the remainder trained j in other types of schools, cn- I the-job and on-the-farm. Grain Of Cloth Important Factor In Dress Making Here are some tips on sew ing, offered by Julia Mclver, State College extension cioth ing specialist. There is a wide variety of tricks that can give your clothes that special mark cl distinction, says Miss Mclver ' But actually there's no special magic about making a very 1 finished looking dress. All you need are a few helpful pointers. One [of the most important steps to learn in dressmaking, says Miss Mclver, is to learn how to sew with the grain cf the material. Grain js the way in which a fabric has been woven ? length-wise (warp> and crosswise (fill) threads ar yarns are woven together at right angles to make the mate Pieces must be cut on the correct grain, and the grain .t.js; b*e kept in its correct po sition throughout construction if the. garment is to be grain j.'_rlect. explains Miss Mclver. , Trie linished garment will not iii wcli. hang correctly, or ? l gk ;>mart unless cut and sewn < ii the proper grain, explains Mclver. Unfortunately, ?.here is no secret formula you can employ to compensate for or conceal a badly cut garment. Prevention is the only cure, so make your clothes grain per fect. she urges.
