This 30tli day of January, 1956 OLIVE O DENMAN _ Executrix F2 ? 6tc ? M8 About 7 o'clock, Mrs. Lunaford opened the front door to let aoma people in. The little bundle with the strip ed tail apparently was between the screen and door, for when she opened it, in scooted the animal. And, of all things, It disappear ed in the house. But they Icnew it was still there. The smell, you know. A downstairs neighbor, Robin L. West, (and a true neighbor if ever there was one< came up and joined in the hunt. The smell got worse. Naturally. Finally, they located friend skunk hidden behind a chest of drawers in the bedroom. Mr. Lunsford called the cops. And Chief C. D. Baird reported for duty (above and beyond). With his .38, he blasted the vis itor to kingdom come. But not the smell. "I told them I could kill the skunk, but not the smell." the brave officer reported. "I woke up the next night and could smell that thing." declared the true (and tried) neighbor. Mr. West. Later in the week, he again re ported to this column from his post behind the bars In the Nan tahala Power and Light Company office: "Ross sent a check for his light bill in here this morning ... I could still smell it." And how are the Lunsfords faring? Well, to be honest about it. I don't plan to interview them un til the wind changes. I do. however, wish them well, jpb For all Harley Stewart knows, his pet fox hound Is hot on the trail of Reynard the Fox some where out in California, or Ala bama. or even Florida.
