MISS ARCHER IS FETED
AT LUNCHEONS, SHOWER
Mrs. R. S. Jones and Mrs. Roy
M. Biddle, Sr., entertained at a
bridge luncheon Friday at the
Jones home on West Main Street,
honoring Miss Mary Alice Archer,
whose marriage to Charles Thomas
McLaughlin will take place Sat
urday afternoon at the Franklin
Methodist Church.
A color scheme of green and
white was carried out in the dec
orations. Miniature brides and
grooms were used.
Three tables were in play. High
score prize was won by Mrs. Roy
M. Biddle, Jr., second high by
Mrs. C. Banks Finger, and bingo
by Mrs. Joe Higdon, Jr.
The honoree was presented a
hand-painted luster ring stand by
the hostesses.
Miss Archer was honored Tues
day afternoon with a linen show
er by Mrs. Lyman Higdon, Mrs.
Oscar Ledford, Mrs. C. Banks
Finger, Mrs. E. W. Fisher, and
Mrs. Frank M. Henry, Jr.. at Mrs.
Higdon's home on Wayah Street.
The decorations and refresh
ments carried out the color scheme
of yellow, Hjnk, and green. The
tea table was covered with a gold
damask cloth, centered with a
flower arrangement in a silver
epergne. Satin streamers led from
the epergne to small corsages on
the table. Sherbert and miniature
bride's cakes were served.
Twenty-four were on the guest
list.
Mrs. Prank M. Killian enter
tained at, her home (Wednesday*
at a luncheon as a courtesy to
Miss Archer.
The bridal theme of green and
white was used in the decorations.
The dining table was overlaid with
an imported hand-embroidered
natural linen cloth with a center
piece of wnite flowers aranged
in a silver bowl. Covers were laid
for 10.
The hostess presented the hon
oree with a bride's handkerchief
imported from France.
Assisting Mrs. Killian was Mrs.
Margaret Cooper.

MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED.
The marriage of Miss Sue De
Hart, daughter of Mrs. Glenn De
Hart, of Franklin, Route 3, to
Max Holland, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Holland, of Franklin, Route
5. has been announced.
The wedding took place in Wal
halla, S. C., May 26. Judge R. C.
Carter performed the ceremony.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Holland at
tended Franklin High School. Mr.
Holland is presently employed at
Womack's Service Station in
Franklin. They are living at Cul
lasaja.

Favorite Recipes
Of MACON WOMEN
FRUIT COMPOTE
?<2 cup prunes 1
'<2 cup peaches |
Ms cup apricots Dried
Vi cup raisins
?2 cup apples |
1 stick cinnamon
2 quarts water
sugar to taste
minute tapioca or cornstarch
to thicken
Soak prunes, peaches, apricots,
and apples before using. Cook
about one hour in two quarts
water with stick cinnamon. Arid
sugar and thicken with tapioca
or cornstarch. Serve very cold.
Other dried fruit combinations
