Baptist Choirs Set Program For Sunday A program of sacred music will be presented by the choirs of the First Baptist Church on Sunday evening at 8 o'clock. The program will include favor ite numbers taken from the Sun day morning and evening services at the church and from the special programs given by the choirs. Soloists will be Mrs. Clarence Henry, Mrs. Howard Barnwell. Jack Powell, and Roy Biddle, Jr. The choirs are directed by Mrs. Barnwell. Accompanist will be Mrs. Tom Collier. Pierson, Former Highlands Mayor, Dies In Hospital A former mayor of Highlands, i Stephen Porter Plerson, died last Thursday at 1:10 p. m. In High lands Community Hospital. Seventy-five years old, he suf fered a stroke and was ill for two days. Funeral services for Mr. Pier son, a native of Jackson County, were conducted Saturday at 4 p. m. at the Church of the Incarnation by Dr. Herbert Koepp-Baker, min ister in charge, and the Rev. A. Rufus Morgan, of Franklin. Burial was in Highlands Cemetery. In addition to serving High lands as mayor many years ago, Mr. Plerson at one time worked for the state highway department. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of the Incarnation and the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge. No. 435. On November 27, 1916. in Cor nelia, Ga? he was married to Miss Margie Mardon, of Monmouth shire, England, and Highlands, who died several years ago. Mr. Pierson was the son of Jere miah and Mrs. Emma Adams Pier son. This is the third time this year he has had to make this request. With all wells producing, the storage tanks have been losing a little ground all week, he said.
