Moses, who is currently on a two and a half year hitch In England with the Strategic Air Com mand, was in on a history making event recently. His base was host to the first B-58 Strato-Fortress to land in England. In a letter he relates that the big eight-jet plane made a non-stop flight from its home base in California and returned in a few days. Airman Moses is the son of .Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Moses, of the Cullasaja Community. Roy Bell, of Sylva, brought the house down the other night at the Boy Scout dinner by relating an incident that took place in his auto mobile. "I guess I was Just too close to where I got in," came the answer. Mr. Bell, a Methodist minister, also explained why he was wearing a colorful red sweater. There's a trend toward cler ical garb for ministers in his denomination now, and he re vealed he was doing everything possible to combat it. jpb While on the subject of Boy Scouting, did you know that Macon County has one of the most active organizations in the entire western area? The coun ty setup offers Scouting to boys of all ages, another unusual thing for a county this size. A lad can start out as a Cub, graduate to a Boy Scout, and ! then into Exploring. Of course, when something is a success it's usually traced back to the interest of a few individuals. In the case of Scouting, Ma con County owes more than just passing congratulations to a handful of adult leaders who are willing to take time off from their own busy schedules to work with boys. It takes a lot of time and energy to keep pace with a bunch of growing boys, as everyone knows, but the results obtained through Scouting are well worth it. Boy Scouting is a program everyone benefits from, either directly or indirectly. There's a lot of life wrapped up in the oath the boys take: On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty, to God and my Country, and to obey the Scout Law. To keep my self physically strong, men tally awake, and morally straight. The next time you meet any of these men on the street, why not stop and offer your thanks for the wonderful job they're doing with the boys of this county?: The Rev. A. Rufus Morgan, the Rev. S. B. Moss, James G. Hauser, R. E. McKel vey, H. H. Qnuse, Jr., Dr. J. L. Hill, Jr.. E. O. Crawford, BUI Garrison, William Harrison, Thennon Blaine, Clayton Ram sey, and Jimmy Hall.
