The man was here on business and told Mr. Conley it was the first time he had ever seen electric clippers. The first power clippers had a belt attachment similar to that on a present-day dentist's drill, ac cording to Mr. Conley. He mount ed his on a trolley affair so the clippers could be used by other barbers in the shop. The stand which came with the gadget is still around the shop.. Since 1920, Mr. Conley has worked for himself, the previous nine years being spent in the employment of other barbershop owners. Those were the days of the 20 cent shave and 35 cent haircut, he recalls. When he began barber ing. before World War I, prices were 10 and 20 cents, respectively. Mr. Conley marked his anniver- 1 sary last week with no ceremony ! except to remark about It to cus tomers.
