appointed to name officers for

son, Mrs. Pritchard Russell. Mrs.

'Deepwater'
Pfc. Billy J. Tallent, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Carl S. Tallent, of
Franklin, took part in the North
Atlantic Treaty Organization ex
ercise, "Deepwater", with the re
inforced 6th Marine Regiment, ac
cording to the Fleet Home Town |
News Center.
The excerise was held Sept. 24
28 and included an amphibious
assault landing on the beaches of
the Saros Bay area off the Thrac
ian Peninsula of Western Turkey.
One of a series of regular exer
cises, "Deepwater" was designed
to test and train the military
defensive capabilities of the land,
sea, and air forces of the partici
pating NATO nations.
On completion of the exercise,
the Marine regiment was sche
duled to return to its home base
at Camp Lejeune.
