Recent agricultural ex periments have shown that peach trees that were pruned lest out- 1 yielded the heavily pruned trees 1 by 39 per cent. Individual peaches 1 were larger on trees pruned more 1 severely, but there were more peaches on those less severely pruned. Q. What response do peach trees give to nitrogen applica- 1 tlons? A. In recent tests, rates of 0.3. 0.6. 0.9, and 1.2 pounds of nitro gen per tree were used. Yieids in creased as more nitrogen was ad ded ? up through the 0.9 pound per tree rate. There was a rela tionship between pruning and ad ded nitrogen. The heavily pruned trees showed the least response to nitrogen. The amount of added nitrogen used did not affect the size of the individual peaches. Q.
