BANQUET IS SATURDAY ? Deadline For 'Young Man Nominations 3 P. M. Today All nominations for the "Young Man ol the Year" award must be In the hands of Robert W. (Bob' Moore, president of the Franklin Junior Chamber of Commerce, by j 3 o'clock this (Thursday after noon. The secret selection committee of non-Jaycees plans to meet to night and select the winner of the 1957 award, which is made on the basis of community service. Any young man between the ages of 21 and 36 is eligible to be nomi nated. Meanwhile, the Jaycees are pre paring to honor the "Young Man of the Year" Saturday night at a special banquet at the V. F. W. Building on Palmer Street. Ouest speaker at the banquet, will be Jack Sharpe, of Kannapolis, president of the N. C. Junior Chamber of Commerce. Other state officials who will be on hand for the banquet will be Schools Slate Radio Programs Macon County schools have been granted radio time by WFSC to report to the people on pro gress and needs. The newly-formed Citizens Com mittee for Better Schools also has two programs on the sche dule. Cullasaja School will lead off the series tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 4:30. April 25. Woman's Club Holds Shower For Society At it's monthly social meeting last Thursday evening, the Frank lin Junior Woman's Club held a shower for the Childrens Hom^ Society of North Carolina. About 16 members attended and brought gifts to be sent to the home in Greensboro. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Oscar Ledford, with Mrs. Larry Welch serving as co hostess. r uner al Services For Hoilman Held On January 21 Funeral services for Joe Harvey Hoilman, 82? who died January 20 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rettie Clark, oil Franklin, Route 3, were conducted the 21st at the Riverview Methodist Church. Officiating werfe the Rev. Paul Heafner and the Rev. Jarvis Underwood and burial was in the hurch cemetery. Mr. Hoilman had been ill for several weeks. He was a miner and a native of Mitchell County. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Tim Hoilman; three sons, Terrel Hoil man, of Franklin; Dover Hoilman, of Winston-Salem, and Forrest Hoilman, of Detroit, Mich.; a daughter. Mrs. Ted Clark; a broth er, Pat Hoilman, of Spruce Pine; a sister, Mrs. Rettie Buchanan, of High Shoals; 10 grandchild ren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dick Clark, Kenneth Clark, Elbert Houston, Cleave Woodward, Bob West, and Don West.
