The reunion was held at Slagle Memorial Building and it attracted a large number from several states. New officers were elected at a business meeting presided over by J. S. Gray, chairman. Colhn. of Brinkly, Ark You'rs Invited To Hear Hodges Speak In Swain A blanket invitation has been extended to businessmen in seven counties, Macon Included, to at tend a chamber of commerce rally in Swain County next Wed nesday, July 9. and hear Gov. Luther H. Hodges speak. A barbecue dinner is planned following the governor's speech at the new Swain High School gymnasium at 4 o'clock. Tickets to the barbecue are available through the local chamber of com merce. About 500 are expected to at tend from Macon, Swain, Hay wood. Jackson, Clay. Cherokee, and Graham counties. Purpose of the seven-county rally is to inject some new life into the chambers of commerce. The Bryson City Junior Cham ber of Commerce has charge of the barbecue, which will be held ' at Deep Creek. J A Swain group will meet the state's chief executive at Lake ] Junaluska at 2:45 and he will be escorted in a motorcade to the . high school for his address.
