Approximately 125 were pres ent. Fred Corbin gave the devotional before lunch. Following the meal, a business "meeting was held with Jim Raby presiding. All officers were reelected. ISM, completed basic training at Fort MoClellan. Ala., and arrived In Europe in June 1857, from an assignment at Fort Jackson. 8. C. Franklin over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Walter West of Marshall. Visiting his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Doyle Miller, over the Week end was Howell Miller, who Is a first year ministerial student at Garner-Webb College. He de livered his first sermon Sunday morning at the Holly Springs Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Miller drove him back to college Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Elliott, of Spokane, Wash., visited Mrs. W. O. Elliott last week. Visiting their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Potts and Mr. and Mrs. James Hauser this week end were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Waldroop and children, of Atlanta, Ga. Mr Waldroop lost a finger in a Job accident, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kinsland made a business trip to Ashevllle Friday. Nursing Course Mrs. Prltchard Russell. o( the Cullasaja Home Demonstration Club, is one o( the 10 (rom this county taking the Red Cross Home Nursing Instructor's Course being taught in Sylva. Classes began September IS and will con tinue through the 25th (today). Those taking the course will re turn to their communities pre pared to teach the course. Mrs. Russell also represented the Cullasaja club and Macon County at the home demonstra tion workshop held in Waynesville September 12. There were 12S relatives and 10 visitors present. A large nam ber of out-of-town members of the clan were present, with Geor gia and Michigan, as well as North Carolina represented. Liv ing children of Mr and Mrs. Zack Leatherman are I. D. Leatherman. Mrs. Margaret Ann L. Amnions, and Mrs. Sarah L. Amnions Mrs Sarah Ammons was unable to at tend because of illness. She is living at a rest home at Clyde. Two births, two marriages, ana no deaths were reported in the family. Next year's reunion will be held at the old Leather man homeplace near I. D. Leatherman's home. Representatives of the I State Highway Commission have1 announced a meeting on sec ondary road matters for the citi zens of Jackson. Swain, and Ma con counties to be held in the , Jackson County Courthouse in Sylva the night of September 30. The session, scheduled for 8 < o'clock, will be attended by sev eral members of the seven-man | State Highway Commission, along with Highway Director W. P. Babcock and Secondary Roads Officer Harold Makepeace This area-wide meeting on sec | ondary road matters is one of several being scheduled in other areas of the state for the purpose of explaining in detail the sec ondary road program of the high way commission, as well as an swering individual questions on particular county road problems. I Members of the highway com mission will bring to the meeting the county plansr of Jackson. Swain, and Macon for secondary road improvements and paving for the current biennium. In ad dition. the point count for each secondary road in the three-coun j ty area with a traffic count of more than fifty vehicles per day I will be available for examination. Highway Commission Chairman J. Melville Broughton said he hopes there will be a good turn out of citizens from the three county area to discuss secondary road matters. "We are looking forward to the Sylva meeting on September 30," Mr. Broughton said, "and we feel it will be an excellent opportunity for residents of these counties to present their particular road problems to the highway sion and It* staff."
