RITES IN FRANKLIN ? Bill Moore, Native, Dies Day After His Birthday William Thomas 'BUD Moore, retired businessman and native of this county, died September 17 at his home in Franklin, the day after his 73rd birthday. He had been in declining health for some time. Funeral services for Mr. Moore were conducted the afternoon of the 19th at the Franklin Method ist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Early, pastor, and the Rev A. Rufus Morgan. Episcopal min ister. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Born Sept. 16, 1885, he was the son of James T. and Mrs. Mattie C, Sherrill Moore He was a mem ber of th? Franklin Methodist Church and had been associated with E. K. Cunningham, the Quality Shop, and Dryman's in Franklin. Graveside rites were conducted by the Masonic Order, with H. W. Cabe, R. R. Gaines, J. Harry Thomas, H. H. Plemons, Prelo Dryman, and J. C. Crisp as pgll bearers. Surviving are a brother. John E. Moore, of Franklin, and two sisters. Miss Mary Joe Moore, of Franklin, and Mrs. Lily Pierson, of Highlands. Bryant Funeral Home was in charge. Witnesses Schedule Is Announced A week's schedule of activities at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses has been announced. Today (Thursday) at 7:30 pjn., a theocratic ministry school will be held, followed by a service meeting at 8:30. Sunday at 4 p.m. a Bible study, "You Ought to be Teachers", is planned. Bible study also is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. HERE FRIDAY NIGHT - _ Panthers Roll Over Cherokee 26 To 0 By GENE DOWDLE The Franklin High Panthers took advantage of visiting team Cherokee High Braves' fumbles in the first few minutes of play here Friday night in Franklin's second conference game to roll up a score of 26 to 0. In the first eight minutes of the game Hyde, on a series of plays through the line, took to the right end to race 50 yards for the initial score of the night. Hyde then held the ball while Kiser kicked the extra point. Agaiij Cherokee made a mistake in Franklin's favor, and "Red" Seay plunged over the line from the 1-yard line to add six more points to Franklin's score. Kiser also added the extra point. Cherokee didn't threaten scor ing until late in the second quar ter when they managed to get the ball within three yards of paydirt, only to be held by the Panthers. At the end of the first half the score was Franklin 14 and Cherokee 0. Early in the second half, speedy Bobby "Pondy" Poindexter ran 65 yards on an inside belly play for another rally for' Franklin. I Because of a 15-yard penalty the ball missed going through the posts by inches for the extra j point. In the final quarter, the Panther's opened up with a 40 yard pass from Williams to Poin dexter for a 75-yard touchdown. Once again this play connected, only to be called back on a pen alty. * This was the next to the last home game. The Panthers will be guests at Hayesville next Friday night.
