Whittington Has Heart Attack While Fishing, Dies Edward Lee Whitungton. 55 year-old native of Wilkes County and resident here for 35 years, died of a heart attack September 24 while fishing on Nantahala Lake. Two Andrews fishermen dis covered his body in a drifting boat on the upper end of the lake and towed the boat ashore, where identification was made by a deputy sheriff. Standley Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. A mechanic. Mr. Whittington worked for the Nantahala Nation al Forest Service garage, for Ma con Construction Company, and also operated his own garage for several years. He was the son of Daniel F. Whittington, of North Wilkesboro. and the late Mrs. Nancy Dancey Whittington. He was married August 25. 1926. to Miss Hettie Raby. of this county, who survives. In addition to his wife and father, surviving are two sons. Charles E., of Franklin, and James A., of Pontiac, Mich.; three daughters. Mrs. Carroll Jacobs, of Royal Oak. Mich.. Mrs. Jesse Crisp, of Franklin. Route 3. and Miss Nancy Whittington of the home; five brothers. Duel, of Millers Creek. Wade. Thomas, Allen, and Woodrow Whittington, all of North Wilkesboro; four sisters, Mrs. Olenn Huffman. Mrs. Fred Staley. Mrs. Howard Pierce, Mrs. Wiley Hester, all of North Wilkesboro; and six grandchil dren. Pallbearers were R. L. Tallent, Lon Dal ton. Oene Baldwin. Dock Morrow, Porter Duncan, and Clarence Byrd. H Plemmons, of Franklin, and made by Mr. Bulgin. English la Burned, Hospitalized, When Carburetor Explodes A Maconian. John Grover Eng lish, Jr., Is hospitalized at C. J. Harris Community Hosfrital In Sylva for burns. He received third degree burns on both arms to the elbows and on his right leg Friday afternoon about 5:30 when a carburetor ex ploded. Mr. English works for Macon Construction Company and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover English, of Franklin. Forest products will become more important with each passing year. WAS HAYWOOD NATIVE ? Arvey Seay, Power Employe, Dies While Testing Poles An employe of Nantahala Pow er and Light Company, Arvey Seay. 64, suffered a heart attack and died at 11:30 a.m. last Thurs day (September 25) while testing poles for the company at Tellico Oap in the Nantahala section. Funeral services for Mr. Seay. a native of Haywood County, who had lived here 47 years, were held Saturday afternoon at the Wells Orove Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. Arvll Swafford, the Rev. Melvln Brooks, and the Rev R. L. Poindexter. Burial was in the Holly Springs cemetery. A resident of Holly Springs community for several years, he was a deacon of the Wells Drove church and also taught a Sunday school class. He was the son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Mar garet White Seay. and was mar ried in 1917 to Miss Mary Will iams. who survives. Other survivors are six sons. Louis and John, of Franklin, Route 3, Howard, who is with the UB Air Force In Houston, Tex., and Norman, Roger Lee, and Clarence, all of Franklin; four daughters, Mrs. HarleyEvltt, of Franklin Mrs. William 8U wlnter, of St. Petersburg. Mrs. Gordon Ledford, of Route 2, and Miss Frances Seay, of thf home; five sisters, Mrs. Alice Reeves and Mrs. Eva Messer. of Waynesvllle, Mrs. Henry Corbin. of Franklin, Mrs. Frank Cabe and Miss Minnie Seay, of Route 4; a brother, J.
