Marshall Fouts. newly elected president, presided at the meeting, which was attended by about 60 persons. Mrs. Joyce Swafford gave the devotional. The treasurer's report was given, stating a balance of $78.10 carried over from the pre vious school year. New business included the resig nation of Mrs. Doris Lynch as secretary. Mrs. Ed Carpenter was elected to take her place. Alex Arnold, principal of the school, discussed the needs of the school to become accredited. A mong supplies needed are library books, reading tables, files, mus ical instruments, and a flag of North Carolina. Mr. Arnold said that since the library had been organized this year, a total of 644 books had been registered. How ever, one thousand books are needed for the number of pupils enrolled, Mrs. Ed Carpenter, Mrs. Beth Ouffey, and Miss Mayberle Moody are making registration cards and classifying the books. The organization voted to adopt the library as a project for this school year. Plans were made (or the P.-T. A. to sponsor a Hallowe'en carnival at the school October 25. Proceeds will be used to buy books lor the library. Appearing on the program were Bennie Ramsey, and Sharon and Shelia Duvall Bennie. seventh grade student, gave an imper sonation of a tramp with his imaginary dog. Roger. Sharon and Shelia* sang a trio of songs, with Claudette Leatherman accompany ing on the piano. Contest Pians Making final plans for rural community development judging was the main interest of members of the Iotla Rural Community De velopment at their meeting Mon day night at the school. Score sheets were collected and totaled, pictures for the scrapbook were chosen, and the tour of the com munity planned. James Roper, president, and Mrs. Margaret Ramsey were selected to make the tour with the judges. A meeting , of the scrapbook committee was set for (tonight) Thursday night at 8 o'clock at the school. Mrs. Tallent Feted Mrs. Kenneth Tallent was ? guest of honor at a household shower given last Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Charles Swaf ford. Mrs. Josephine Wyatt and Mrs: Paul Swafford were co-hostesses. About 20 guests were present. Class Supper Members of the Home Builders Class of the Iotla Baptist Church will meet with Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Carswell Saturday night at 7 o'clock for a supper meeting.
