for the White House Conference

President Eisenhower for March

27-April 2, 1960.
The conference, held decennial
ly, is designed to serve "as a
stimulus to renewed determination
to see that our children are given
the best possible opportunities."
Mrs. F. H. Potts, of Highlands,
who served as county chairman
for the 1950 Conference, has a
greed to serve as co-chairman.
Other members of the committee
will be appointed later.

Given Boy Scouts
An unusually large crowd, about
75 persons, turned out March 15
at the Franklin Presbyterian
Church, for a Boy Scout court
of honor.
Twenty-eight advancements in
rank were made in Troops 202
and 221, and 17 Scouts received
merit badges.
First Class ranks were awarded
Donald Fisher, Tom Crawford,
and Ricky Norton, of Troop 202,
and Elbert Angel, Jr., Benny Mc
Glamery. Ronnie Bolton. Joe Mar
tin, and Jim Simpson, of Troop
221.
Getting Second Class ranks
were Duane Hedden and Alvin
