Rear Admiral Alfred T. Mahan, whose books did much to bring about a public awareness of U.S. sea power, died on Dec. 1, 1914. Kirkland Infant Rites Conducted Thearrf Thomas Kirkland, In fant son of Glenn and Mrs. Fan nie Watson Kirkland, of Cull? whee, Eraitus Route, died In the Highlands Community Hospital at 6:10 a.m. January 28. Funeral services were held at Pine Creek Baptist Church the afternoon of January 29. The Rev. Thad Dowdle officiated. Burial was In the Pine Creek Cemetery. Surviving besides the parents are a sister, Laqueta, a half-bro ther. Wayne Bryson, and a half sister, Diane Bryson, all of the home; and the maternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Wat son, of Cullowhee, Erastus Route. Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
