Cowee Community MISS CEC1LE GIBSON Staff Correspondent Supper Meeting The monthly meeting of Cowee Rural Development Organization will be held tonight (Thursday). This will be a supper meeting at the picnic grounds. If the weather permits. If the weather is bad, the meeting will be at the school. Bring a covered dish and be there by 7 o'clock. On Monday night. May 9. Cowee will go to Iotla for a supper meet ing. Club Meets The Cowee Home Demonstration Club met Thursday afternoon, April 28, at the school library with nine members present. Mrs. Nancy Leatherman, president, pre sided. and the devotional was given by Mrs. Arphle Bryson. After the business meeting, Mrs. Mabel Swan .assistant home agent, gave a demonstration on 'Ca:el for Your Clothes for Longer I Wear." She gave tips on proper 7 methods of cleaning, storing and mending. Involving the simple > routine care that can be put Into practice In everyday living. Mre. E. O. Rickman received the gift at the drawing. Church New* A covered dish fellowship sup per was held at Snow Hill Meth odist Church Friday night, April 29, with the Adult Bible Class sponsoring the event. Prayer Services Prayer services were held at Cowee Baptist Church Wednesday night, May 4, with the pastor, the Rev. Clyde Collins, conducting. Wednesday night the adult choir of Cowee Baptist Church held rehearsal, with Oarland Willis directing. The Sunbeams of Cowee also held a meeting at the church Wednesday night. Choir Practice Youth choir practice will be helo at Cowee Baptist Church Thursday afternoon after school, with Mrs. Ed Brogden directing. Circles Meeting The Jennie Ray Circle of the W.M3. of Cowee Qiurch will meet at 2:30 Thursday, May 5, it the church. The Shirley Houston Circle of the W.M.S. will meet Friday, May 3, at 7:30, with Mrs. Edd Duvall. Weiner Roast Monday night .Edd Brogden, R. A. counsellor, gave a weiner roast at his home for the mem jers, with 18 present. Following the weiner roast, a devotional period was leci by the Rev. Clyde Collins around the bon fire. Plans Approved The 4-H plans for landscaping ind beautifying the grounds at Liberty Baptist Church was recom mended by the board of deacons ind approved by the church last 3unc'ay night. Work will be start ;d on this at once. Services Changed Beginning next month preach ng service at Liberty Baptist Church will be held every Sunday nornlng and there will be no preaching service on Sunday lights. Conference and business meet ings will be held at Liberty on I Friday nights before the first Sun day In each month. Pergonals Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hunnlcutt and children, of Gainesville. Qa.. visited Mrs. Hunnlcutt's parents. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Hickman, last Saturday. Mrs. W. R. Gibson, Mrs. Dor man Olbson and daughter, Joy. visited Mr. and Mrs Floyd Carden at Sylva last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hurst and Mrs. James Hurst, of Plnehurst. spent Thursday night with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Iradell Hurst. Miss Freca Hurst returned to Plnehurst with them Friday, where she Is employed. After a month's visit with Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Gibson and fam iiy, Mrs. Maurice E. Gibson and children, of Utlca, Mich., went to Birmingham. Ala., Monday for a visit with her father and step mother. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bis hop. Mr. and Mrs. Troy Hurst and granddaughter, Jo Cloer, spent Suncay with Mrs. Hurst's sister. Mrs. Ray Bishop, and family at Cullowhee. T. C. Bryscn and son, Ronnie, of Macon. Ga? spent the week end at their home here. Miss Josephine Roper returned to Gardner-Webb College Sunday after a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Roper. Mrs. Shirley Dowdle and chil dren and Mrs. Elsie Hurst visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hurst In Sylva last Suncay afternoon. Donnie Gibson spent Saturday in Gainesville, Ga., where his father, Dorman Gibson, works for Southeastern Construction Com 1 pany. Last Thursday, T. M. Rlckman j and Ricky Brogden went to Win ston-Salem to get Mrs. Rlckman. who had been visiting her sisters. Mr. and Mrs. John Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hall, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Burrell.
