Cullasaja Happenings Collins To Preach The Rev. Clyde Collins, pastor of the Cowee Baptist Church, will assist the Rev. Jarvis Underwood, 1 pastor of Sugarforlt Baptist Church, with revival services be ginning Sunday night, June 19, at 7:30 and continuing nightly throughout the week. Everyone is invited to attend these services. Attendance Good The attendance at Bible school at Sugarfork Baptist Church last week was good, averaging 40. Mrs. J. 8. Cunningham was principal. Teachers and workers were Miss Wanda Bailey, Miss Nina Cook. Mrs. Bern ice Teem, Mrs. Ruth Woo ten, Mrs. Katherine Teem, and Mrs. Mildred McDowell. The pastor, the Rev. Jarvis Underwood, brought a character story each morning and a short message each day at the close of the service. Friday morning the group en Joyed a picnic. Friday night was Bible school commencement with a large crowd attending. Ouse Preaches The Rev. Jack Cruse preached Sunday morning and night at the Cullasaja Assembly of God Church in the absence of the pastor, the Rev. R. E. Stephenson, who is in the Eastern part of North Caro lina at a revival service. Ramsey Speaks Frank Ramsey, Jr., spoke at' Young People's services at the Cullasaja Assembly of God Church Sunday night. W.M.C. To Meet The Higdonvllle Home Demon stration Club will meet today (Thursday) at 1:30 at the home of Mrs. Ted Hlgdon. The demon stration will be on "Low Calories Desserts". Feted At Shower Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ramsey, Jr., were honored with a mis cellaneous shower last Thursday night at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Fred N. Sorrells. Hostesses were members of the Women's Missionary Council of the Franklin Assembly of God Church. Approximately 25 attend ed and the couple received many gifts. Mr*. Ramsey Is the former Miss Helen McCoy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer McCoy, of Route 2. Cullasaja Meets Tuesday night, June 7, Cuilasaja Community Development Organi zation met at the community pic nic area for a supper and business meeting. Following the picnic supper, the business meeting was held with Pritchard Russell, president, pre siding. Mrs. Vernon Bryson gave the devotional and Mr. Russell led in prayer. A discussion was held among the men about cutting locust posts to be used for mail box posts in the community. The following home Improve ments were reported: Mr. and Mrs. Vemon Bryson have a new deep freezer; Carroll Qregroy has paint ed his filling station; and Jack Womack has completed his car port, gravelled his driveway, and set out shrubbery. Those volunteering to clean up the picnic grounds this month are Charlie Holland, Pritchard Rus sell, Roy Stiwinter, and Marion Bryson. The sign "No Dumping Allowed" has been erected at the area by the State Highway De partment at the request of the community. The group also asked that a request be made through the newspaper that people refrain from dumping their garbage and trash in the picnic area, and that persons using It dispose of their garbage in the containers provid ed. The area is maintained by the community for the public and the community keeps it clean with volunteer labor. Plans were made to have a welner roast at the July meeting at the picnic area. tvmpicw rians Tuesday afternoon, HlgdonviUe women met at the home of Mrs. Blair Price and made final plans for the luncheon they will serve Thursday, June 23, for the county wide revival, which will be at the Friendship Tabernacle next week. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reschke and two sons, of Miami, Fla., arrived the latter part of the week to spend some time at their home in Highlands and visiting Mrs. J. L. Clark. Mrs. Reschke's mother, and other relatives in Cullasaja section. Here from Copperhill, Tenn.. to visit her sister, Mrs. Jack Moore, and Mr. Moore is Mrs. Eula Rogers. Mrs. Rogers will also visit her sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank McDowell and other relatives In this sec ton before returnng home. Mr. and Mrs. Wlndle Moore and children, Harold and Betty, have returned home from a visit with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Moore, In Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Henderson had as guests last week their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Stevenson, of Angler, and Mr. Steven's sister, Mrs. Norman Buffalo, of Raleigh. Tuesday of last week, the Hendersons accom panied their guests to Fontana Dam on a sightseeing tour. Mrs. J. W. Moore Is spending some time with Mrs. A. C. Moore and Linda and Karen. Her daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Ellenburg, Sr., brought her up from Seneca, S. C.. Tuesday of last week, where she has spent the past few months. A. C. Moore, who Is employed In Paradise. Ky., spent the week end here with his family. Miss Otela Bryson came over from Ashevllle last Friday after noon. Sunday, her brother, Sammy Bryson, took her and her nephew, Morris Bryson, to Knoxvllle, Tenn., where they took a plane for Albuquerque, N. Mex., for a visit with Morris's sister, Miss Carolyn Bryson. Miss Bryson will drive the party home and enroute they will visit many points of In terest. Miss Bryson will visit here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Bryson, and her brother a short while and then return to her Job in Albuquerque. Sunday, Mrs. C. T. Bryson, Mrs. A. C. Moore and Karen took Mrs. Bryson's grandson, Sam Q. Ritchie, to Asheville, where they met the boy's parents, }Jlr. and Mrs. Sam Ritchie. Little Sam spent last week here with his grandparents and aunt. Tuesday of last week, W. L. Corbln and son. Bill, brought Mr. Corbin's mother, Mrs. Pearl H. Corbln, and Mr. Corbin's daugh ter, Martha, up from Dunn to spend the summer at the Jim Hlgdon homeplace In Higdonville community. Mr. Corbln and Bill returned home last Wednesday. Mrs. Gordon Gibson left for Pontlac, Mich., last week to visit her sons and their families, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Russell. ' Mr. and Mrs. W. W. (Dude) Berry and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Moses and son at tended a birthday dinner given In honor of Mrs. Berry's mother, "Aunt Sallie" Moore, Sunday at the Patton community building. Mrs. Moore will be 88 years old on June 19. The celebration was held early so that some of Mrs. Moore's grandchildren could attend. Mrs. Morrison and the two children spent two weeks Assemblies 15 th Meet Scheduled The 15th annual meeting of the Western North Carolina Camp Meeting of the Assemblies of God is set for the Cullasaja camp ground June 28-July 10. The camp evangelist will be the Rev. T. H. Spence, district super intendent of the Assemblies of God In Alabama. This will be his first camp meeting engagement in North Carolina and he will speak nightly at 7:45. Camp Bible teacher will be the Rev. Andrew Stirling, district superintendent of the Assemblies of God in North Carolina since 1946. Mrs. L. T. Whidden, Jr., of Con cord, will conduct the children's services.
