ant visitor on Tuesday at the Pilot office.
Mr. W. L. Peace, travelling representa
tive of The Raleigh Times, was in town
Friday and made the Pilot a business call.
Mr. Daniel Smith, Sr., who has been con
fined to his home for the past several
weeks we are glad to note is able to be
about again.

had as their dinner guest last Sunday Miss

Miss Bertha Proffitt, the Home Demon
stration Agent for Moore county, is con
ducting a campaign amongst the school
giris to promote better health by making
better bread. She visited our school on
Tuesday and gave instructions and distri
buted literature describing the contest,
which started on January 17, and will
close on March 19. A number of valuable

Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels
in an address before 1000 naval cadets at
the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., last
Monday night told the young officers not
to be alarmed at tails that battleships soon
would be supplanted by ak-fighting craft.
He also said “I have made a number of
trips to Annapolis but this will be my last.
I will be glad to retire from public life and
get back to the editorial chair and brush
up in newspaper writing, and there is no
doubt that I will have much to write
about.”

in the study of tractors.
Mrs. M. N. Blue and son, of Fayetteville,
spent the week-end with Mrs. Blue’s sis
ter, Mrs. R. L. Oldham, who accompanied
them home Tuesday.
