What Are You Here For ?
Written especially for the Pilot
BY W. G. EBEY
If you’ve never made another have a happier time
in life;
If you've never helped a brother through his strug
gle and his strife.
If you’ve never been a comfort to the weary and
the worn;
Will you tell us what you’re here for in this lovely
land of morn.
If you’ve never made the pathway of some neighbor
glow with sun,
If you’ve never brought a bubble to some fellows
heart with fun,
If you’ve never cheered a toiler that you tried to
help alongt
Wj]J you tell us what you’re here for in this lovely
land of song.
If you’ve never made a comrade feel the world a
sweet place.
Because you lived within it, and served it with
your grace.
If you’ve never heard a woman or a little child
proclaim
A blessing on your county—your’e a poor hand at
the game.
' It is not often that a person receives po
lite treatment at the hands of railroad
officials. They are always ready to knock,
but there are exceptions. If all employees
were as polite and accommodating as Mr.
Henry A. Boist, agent, and his assistant,
Mr. A. G. Edwards, the railroads would
never have any trouble with the public.
These two gentlemen are obliging to a
fault, and we know of cases where they
have gone out of* their way to do a favor.
An interesting letter from Upper Hoke
was received to late for publication this
week. It will appear in our next issue.
Next Sunday being the first Sunday in
February there will be services in the
Methodist Episcopal Church in the morn
ing at 11 o’olock and at night at 7 o’clock.
Rev. L. H. Joyner, the pastor, will occupy
the pulpit at both services, and you are
expected to be present. Don’t fail to at
tend Sunday School at 10 o’clock.
