\" CAMERON Mrs. F. C. Ruth, and baby Frank, Jr., came over from Raleigh to spend the week-end with Mrs. Ruth^s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Swett on route 2. Miss Pearl McNeill, representing the Aetna Life Insuriince Company, made a business trip to Cameron on Friday. Mr. H. A. McNeill of Floralla, Ala., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. A. McNeill. Miss Thurla Cole is saleslady in her father’s store. Mr. M. W. Harbour has returned to his former home at Rockford, Sur ry county, for an extended visit. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. McNeill, Miss Ada McNeill and Miss Mary Ferguson attended services at Union last Sun day, where Rev. Taffe preached his farewell sermon before leaving for Henderson. Miss Manda McPherson read a beautiful letter last Sunday morning, written by Mrs. Loula Muse to her Sunday school class, thanking them for the lovely flowers sent her during her recent illness. Mrs. Joseph A. Brown of Chadborn, and daughter, Mrs. Knox Proctor of Lumberton, were guests last week of Mrs. Lula Muse and Mrs. Jewel Hemphill. Miss Lady Loving, who teaches at West End, came home for over Sun day. Miss Minnie Muse came up from Roberdell on Sunday. She and her mother, Mrs. Janie Muse, went over to the C. C. Hospital to see Miss Bonnie Muse, who is recovering from an operation for appendicitis. Rev. L. H. Joyner, assisted by Rev. Mr. Hornady, will conduct a protract ed meeting at Cameron Melhodist church some time in March. Rev. Mr. Hornady was pastor of the Methodist church here some thirty years ago. Dr. O’Briant, Miss Elizabeth Ray, and Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Austin at tended the races at Pinehurst on Sat urday. Mr. J. F. Saunders and Dr. O’Bri- ant were guests at the Carolina in Pinehurst on Sunday. Lovers of Tennyson had the pa thetic pleasure of seeing Enoch Ar den at the moving pictures Monday night. And the seashore of old Eng land where “Long lines of cliff break ing have left a chasm; and in the chasm are foam and yellow sands.” J. W. Cameron, who is a firm be liever in the ground hog, says that our Cameron ground hog forgot to look for his shadow when he came out. He saw so many new hardware stores, garages, Blackats, and moving pictures he thought he had emerged on the wrong side of his hole, got frightened and went back; replenishec his fire, lit his pipe and picked up The Pilot to pass away the time, and learn of the prosperity of Vass and community. It is rumored that another new grocery store will be flourishing in Cameron at an early date. Messrs. H. L. Graves and Herbert Seawell of Carthage, were afternoon callers on Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs. J. D. McLean. Mesdames Rufus and Fred Swett of Hamlet, were guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Swett, of Cameron Mr. R. T. Cole,, of Carthage route 2, was in town Monday. His brother Mr. Neill Cole, is quite ill of erysi pelas. Dr. O’Briant and Mr. H. T. Petty were fishing at Lakeview last week hey caught three jacks in the game. Mr. and Mrs. Neill McLean of Vass were afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McLean last Sun day. Miss Mary Ann McNeill, formerly of Cypress community but who has made her home in Cameron for the ast few years,died Sunday at the age of eighty-four. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. D. Mc Neill; interment at Cypress cemetery. It was worth a great deal to the school children tio see the inaugura- ion of the governor at the movies shown by Miss Flora McQueen. While Mr. Ab. Thomas and family, on route 1, were attending services Sunday at Cameron Methodist church, ;heir home was broken into; $7.00 in money and several other articles were stolen. Mr. Hardy, a neighbor, told tiim of seeing two men and a woman going in the direction of his home. Mr. Thomas lost no time in coming to Cameron for deputy sheriff Munns; together they began a search and found the three camping on the cat tail branch, near the home of Mr. James Rogers. They were brought to Cameron, searched and the missing articles and money found, besides other stolen articles from Vass and Lakeview garages. They were tried before justice of the peace J. J. Irvin; failing to make bond they were sent to Moore county jail. Th moving pictures shown at the school house Monday night were the best ever. They were classical, pa triotic, instructive and comic. The last picture, “Some Boy,” brought down the house. The movies at the “Idle Hour,” over the Blackat Battery building, opened Thursday night with Fox news. Mutt and Jeff cartoon, Oliver Twist, Jr., in five reel features. Admission 15 and 25 cents. There is to be a Blackat Battery service station established at Wades- boro. Mrs. J. D. McLean, Mrs. R. H. Au stin, Miss Vera McLean and the young lady school teachers, were shopping in Sanford last week. Mrs. Mildred Matthews of Sanford, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Irvin. Let the bootleggers alone. If they weren't doing that they might be writing poetry for the newspapers. Men may not be more modest than women, but about all the men expose in public is their ignorance.
