Beasley, of Apex, was in Vass this week. Mr. R. L. Bums, of Carthage, was in town Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. McLauchlin and Mrs. Mary McLauchlin visited in Cam eron last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. T. W. Churchill, of Moncure, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. T. K. Gunter. Mr. J. C. Thompson, of Southern Pines, was the guest of his brother, Mr. W. F. Thompson ,last Sunday. Mrs. M. A. Bynum has returned from a visit to relatives in Southern Pines. Mesdames W. J. Cameron, J. R. Thomas and S. R. Smith visited in Southern Pines last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McLean, of Cameron, were in Vass Tuesday af ternoon. Mr. C. M. McLean and little daugh ter, Margaret, of Charleston, Miss., are the guests of relatives in Vass. Miss Sallie Thompson, of Cameron route 1, was the guest of Miss Ruth McNeill, Tuesday night of this week. Rev. and Mrs. W. G. Farrar, of Princeton, were the guests of rela tives Friday night of last week. Messrs. A. Cameron, W. D. Mat thews and Neill McLean were in Ral eigh, Monday. Mr. B. Deaton and children, Varina and Sam, of Spies, visited in Vass on Sunday. Deflation in price has hit a lot of things, but the* price of folly still re mains the same. Mr. Neill C. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Graham visited Mrs. Graham’s uncle, Mr. D. B. Came ron, at Durham, last week. Mr. Came ron has been ill for several weeks. Mr. D. G. Ridenhour went to Smith- field, Sunday, where he spent the day with Mrs. Ridenhour, who is in at tendance upon her father. Mr. J. A. Keith, Misses Margaret Keith, Vivian Matthews aand Ruth McNeill, made a trip to Sanford last Saturday. The local baseball team defeated the Aberdeen team to the score of 5 to 3, in a seven inning game here, Wednesday afternoon. Misses Maida Mclnnis and Mattie Byrd, and Mr. Clyde Joseph, of Albe marle, spent Sunday with Mrs. G. W. Griffin. Miss Jewell Edwards ^returned, Thursday, from Cameron, where she Was the guest of friends. She was accompanied home by Miss Carrie Norman. Mr. W. C. Hammond, of Asheboro, of the State Revenue Department, and deputy sheriff R. A. Bryan, were in Vass, Wednesday, looking after the 1‘evenue and income taxes. This is scorned by Fannie but Mrs. Vautrey urges it because of Mr. Ramer’s great wealth. Mr. Ramer tries to manipu late Mr. Vautrey’s investments so as to bankrupt him in order to force him to approve the marriage. In the meantime Roland and his horse have become famous, and Roland sells the horse for $50,000 and goes to Mrs. Vautrey to ask for Fannie’s hand. He learns of Mr. Vautrey’s financial troubles and through the direction of a mutual friend he applies his rrxney in Mr. Vautrey’s fftvor in time to save him from bankruptcy. He then marries Fannie, and they all go back to the “Old Kentucky Home.” After a while every little boy will learn that it is wrong to tell a lie unless you are a parent talking to a boy. HARRY R.
