We are glad to report Miss Angie Newcomb getting on nicely at Mc Connell Hospital where she was op- erated on Friday for appendicitis. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Holland left Sunday to spend the holidays wUh Mr. Holland’s parents in Winston-Sa lem. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McNeil returned bunday from Birmingham. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wood, of Thag- gards, their daughter, Miss Ruth Wood, of Newark, N. J., spent Christ mas with Mrs. S. J. Stutts. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Gardner and children, of Orangeburg, S C., spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Gardner. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Miss Gladys Gardner stopped over North Carolina, Moore County. IN THE SUPERIOR COURT Summons: D. A. McDonald, the Bank of Carthage and H. B. Shields, vs. Henry N. Bates, the Deep River Power Company and others. All the stockholders, creditors, deal ers and others interested in the af fairs of the Deep River Power Com pany, one of the defendants in the above entitled action, and all other persons interested in the subject mat ters pending in said action, will take notice that a judgment and decree was inade and rendered in the above en titled action pending in the Superior Court of Moore County, North Car olina, at the December Term, 1923, adjudging the defendant, the Deep River Power Company, to be insol vent, and decreeing a dissolution of said company and the winding up of of its affairs, as provided by law, and requiring the persons aforesaid to ap pear in this cause or intervene there in or prove their claims before the un dersigned Clerk of said court, on or before the 15th day of January, 1924, or be thereafter barreed therefrom and from sharing in the assets of said corporation; and all the stock holders, creditors, dealers and others interested in the affairs of said de fendant, Deep River Power Company, are summoned, notified and re quired to appear before the undersigned Clerk of the Superior Court of Moore Copnty, at the court housee of said county, in the town of Carthage, on the 15th day of January, 1924 and answer the complaint which is de posited in the office of said clerk, or intervene in said cause and become parties thereto or file and prove their claims against said defendent. Deep River Power Company, before said Clerk as provided by law, on or be fore the said 15th day of January, 1924. And all such persons will take no tice that if they fail to answer said complaint or appear in said cause or intervene therein and become parties to said cause or file and prove their claims before the undersigned Clerk, as aforesaid as provided by law, then within the time aforesaid they, and each of them, will thereafter be for ever barred therefrom and from shar ing in the assets of said corporation. M. Dwight spent the holi days at his home in Eastover, S. C. Mrs. Maud Kelly and baby, of Ham let, came Sunday to spend the holi days with her parents and Mr. and Mrs. Colton Smith. The Christmas exercises at the church Monday was a success. All the children recited will. The tree was very handsome, and Santa Claus came in to speak to the children and all the children were delighthed with him. Mr. and Mrs. 0. H. Stutts and Mrs. Bates, of Pinehurst, attended the Aik- en-Haynes wedding and reception Sunday. Mrs. A. S. Newcomb, of Pinehurst attended the Aiken-Haynes wedding Sunday. Mrs. Flack and daughter. Miss Cath erine, of Southern Pines, spent Christ mas with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Burr. Mr. F. H. Vinton, of Bedford, N. Y., came Saturday to spend the sea son with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vinton. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnson, of Saco, Maine, Miss Pauline Johnson and Mr. Irvin Johnson, of Pinehurst, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Gibbon. Mrs. Johnson is a sis ter of Misses Angie and Maud New comb. Mr. Johnson is an engineer of great fame, having built the Hudson Tunnell in New York City. Many a boy who was the apple of his mother’s eye turned out to be a winesap. Swinging around past the Tea house, and in front of Major Nettleton’s fine new home the Fairway road is built almost to the creek near No. 3 green, from where the road on the other side of the creek runs- directly up the hill to become Rhode Island Avenue in Southern Pines. That road will be built, clayed through and completed in the next few days. It will open another magnificent sec tion of Knollwood, and shorten the distance from Southern Pines to Knollwood Village, Mid-Pines and Pinehurst, and ultimately lead to building up the whole country be tween.
