TWO JUNE SPECIALS AT
THE CAROLINA THEATRE.
What could be more appropriate
for June than a real jazzy college
comedy and a romantic comedy ?
The next two pictures at the Car
olina are just these. On Saturday
night James Hall, Louise Brooks,
Richard Arlen and Nancy Phillips,
Paramount Junior stars, are appear
ing in a picture full of vim, vigor,
pep and “it!”
And “Rolled Stockings” is it. If
ever a picture what Elinor Glyn
aptly characterizes as “It,” “Rolled
Stockings” is it!
It is a tale of college life. It takes
place for the most part in and around
the college campius. The pep, en
thusiasm and life usually connected
with collegians is there. An excit
ing boat race provides a big kick at
the finish. Pretty co-eds and hand
some under-grads run riot through
out the story. Here is a peppy cast
of youngsters in a zippy story. Girls
and boys will love it, while their
fathers and mothers will get a kick
out of it. Seeing is believing; don’t
miss “Rolled Stockings.”
On Tuesday night, Raymond Grif
fith, the high hat comedy king, sup
ported by a big cast, including Wil
liam Powell, Vera Voronina, Josef
Swickard and Mario Carillo, will ap
pear in “Time to Love,” a French
farce that lifts to broad hilarious
thrills at the climax. “Time to Love”
ranges pure romance, through light
comedy, burlesque, farce and slap
stick, to an intensely hilarious laugh
thrill climax. Yet it keeps Griffith
always in character as' the young
Frenchman in pursuit of the girl he
loves.
“Time to Love” is also important
in that Vera Voronina, new Russian
screen discovery, plays her first lead
ing role. Mis Voronina made a per
sonal hit in her first screen appear
ance in “The Whirlwind of Youth,”

STATE TAKES OVER
THE PINEHURST ROAD.
It is expected that within a few
days the State Highway officials
will take the road from Pinehurst to
Southern Pines and relieve the coun
ty of the work of maintenance be
tween the two towns. Engineers
will probably be on the ground soon
o look over the route with the in
tention of preparing for the hard top
that will soon be laid. The next in
formation that will he forthcoming
will follow the report of the en
gineers.
CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to thank our friends and
neighbors, one and all, for their many
acts of kindness during the sickness
and death of our dear little baby.

If you have noticed the fine big dimension stuff in
the Pine Needles Hotel it may be interesting to know
that it came from the Pinehurst Lumber Yards.

Where Big Stuff is called for it nearly all comes
from Pinehurst. When 2 by 12 over 20 feet long is de
sired the call comes to Pinehurst. When big beams in
long leaf are needed Pinehurst usually gets the order.
When that hiifh quality in big material is sought Pine
hurst supplies the stuff.
Look at that Pine Needles material, and remember

For Summer Work in the Kitchen
Use a
Perfection Ofl Stove
In these days it is useless to keep the kitchen heated
all day with a wood stove, when a few minutes or an hour
or two with an oil stove will give you just the heat you
need, and just where you need it. which is directly under
the pan or kettle.
t
No fire under the lids you do not need. No fire to
cool down when you are done. Simply turn off the oil
and the fire is out.
Clean, cheap, efficient, quick in action, and the big
gest addition to the kitchen in years.
For a cool summer get a few of those Clearflax
Linen Rugs. Moth proof, durable, attractive.
Linoleum for permanent floor coverings. This type
of goods has become standard in all modern homes.
Lawn Chairs, Camp Chairs, Out of Door Furniture,
Inexpensive and remarkably comfortable.
