FARRELL Aberdeen Phone 58 Book Club Meeting The Thursday Afternoon Book Club was delightfully entertained on last Thursday afternoon by Mrs. G. C. Seymour at her attractive home in Aberdeen. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Robert F. Stewart, the new jyresident. Several matters of business were taken up, the most im portant of which was the appoint ment of Mrs. H. D. Doub as delegate fr^m this club to the State Federa tion of Women’s Clubs to be held in Greensboro next month, with Mrs. J. Wimberly Bowman as alternate. The subject for the afternoon was “Famous Painters and their Work,” and splendid papers were read as fol lows: “Copeley and West,” by Mrs. E. L. Pleasants; “Gilbert Stuart’s Life and Work,” by Mrs. E. J. Ma con, and “Trumbull and Sully,” by Mrs. Grady J. Burney. Mrs. Ralph Leach was an invited guest for this meeting. The next meeting will be with the president,* Mrs. Stewart at the Mossgiel Farm. day to visit Mrs. Neill A. Graham (nee Miss Mary Leach). Miss Mildred Campbell, who is teaching at Jonesboro, came home last week to visit her mother, Mrs. Mary Campbell. Miss Ruth McFarland, who is teach ing mi^sic at Vass, spent the week-end in town visiting her parents. Little Miss Mary Spencer Harring ton spent the week-end in Carthage visiting her grandmother. A lesson on pillows was very inter esting and instructive, and many pat terns and ideas were exchanged in connection ^ therewith. SEABOARD Surprised on Birthday Miss Hazel Windham was honored by a surprise party last Friday night at her home in Aberdeen to celebrate her 17th birthday. The house was beautifully decorated with spring flowers, the color scheme of pink and white being effectively carried out with peach blossoms and spireas, and also in the appetizing birthday cake, decorated with pink and white candles. Her popularity was shown by the number of gifts given her by her friends. Dancing and games were enjoyed and a most delightful evening was spent by all those pres ent. The guests were Misses Naomi Melvin, Katharine Melvin, and Mar garet Miller of Aberdeen, Miss Eliz abeth Murphy of Clinton, Miss Irene Maples of Knollwood, Mrs. S. M.
