Byrd, Sr. at their home near Vass. Mrs. J. M. Tyson, who spent a number of w'eeks with her daughter in Carthage while convalescing from an operation which she underwent soon after Christmas, was able to return to her home here on Friday night, but she has been quite uncomfortable a part of the time since coming home. Miss Fa' e Brewer of Pittsboro came down Saturo \y to attend the Vass-Lakeview alumni banquet and visited friends until Monday after noon. Miss Elizabeth McNeill and Ern est McNeill, students at Lees-McRae College at Banner Elk, spent last week with their sister. Miss Ruth Mc Neill, and other relatives here. H. D. Keith, well known citizen ot the Cranes Creek community, is quite ill at his home. Misses Emily Laubscher and Eva Callahan, student nurses at a High Point hospital, came home Saturday to attend the alumni banquet and were accompanied on the return trip Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Calla han. Miss Elizabeth Keith of E. C. T. C. in Greenville spent the Easter holi- days at home. Mrs. O. M. Spurlin of Sharon, S. C., and Miss Jewell Edwards of Lucama spent the week-end with their moth er, Mrs. Mary E. Edwards, and at tended the alumni banquet. E.VSTER SERVICE HELD AT V.\SS METHODIST CHURCH An impressive Easter service was held at the Vass Methodist Church Sunday morning with members of the three congregations in Vass attend ing. Prior to the sermon. Clary Thompson, one of the community’s fine young men who is now a student at Campbell College, was admitted into church membership, and members of the community young people’s choir sang a special Easter song. The Rev. Leon M. Hall, the pastor, preached an Easter sermon of unusual appeal and interest.
