THE PILOT, Southern Pines and Aberdeen, North Carolina Papt' Seven NIAGARA Miss Evelyn Snipes, Miss Pearl Moore, Miss Nellie Doris and Miss Virginia Morgan spent a day or two in Raleigh the past week on a shop ping expedition. G. H. Monroe and Robert Smith, who have been working in Raleigh for the past while spent the w’eek- end with their people in these parts. Misses Gladys Snipes, Barbara Stanyan and Berlein Garner spent a day in Raleigh the past week. Mrs. Lura Ray is spending some time in Winston-Salem with her daughter, Mrs. O. F. Taylor. The Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Wood have gone to Black Mountain to spend the summer months. Mrs. Janie Register and children of Durham spent a week or so recent ly on a visit with Mrs. A. E. Mouroe here. B. C. Garner and family visited relatives in Carthage and Hemp last Sunday. Miss Elizabeth Ray has gone to Wrightsville Beach to spend a few weeks. Mrs. B. F. Hudson of Savannah, Ga., spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Frank. Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Morgan and children visited friends near Dandar- rock Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Thrasher of Calexico, Cal., spent the past week here with their uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Rhodes. They left on Tuesday for Erie, Pa., where they plan to spend the summer. Parker visited relatives here Sunday afternoon, and Tommy Gschwind, who had been visiting his father for nearly a month, returned home with her. Misses Eva Callahan and Emily Laubscher, Vass girls, have recently completed their training in the school of nursing of Guilford General Hos pital in High Point. Both girls, who were outstanding in their high school work here, made fine records at the hospital. They are now doing private work in High Point. The Callahan family attended their giaduation. Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Corbett and Faye visited relatives in Goldsboro Sunday. On Monday, they and Mrs. Corbett’s sister, Misa*Annie Nunnery, went to Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher. Miss Nunnery returned home with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bachelor and three daughters of near Broadway spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Abernathy. Mr. and Mrs. Brownie Davis, Mrs. Ford and children, Mary Ruth, Her- schel and Effie Mel, left Sunday lor Morristown, Tenn,, to visit relatives. Dr. and Mrs. R, G. Rosser, Robert John and Janet Rosser joined Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Ponish and their music pupils from a number of other com munities in a picnic at Lumberton on Wednesday and had a delightful time, time. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Cox and baby of near Broadway spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Cox. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Borst and H A. Borst, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Tem ple, Mrs. W. J. Cameron and Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Smith visited the Indian Camp Park and other places of inter est on the Sandhills land utilization project at Hoffman Monday £ifter- noon, enjoyed a picnic supper at Wat son’s Lake and returned to Southern Pines for a theatre party. Mrs. Homer Pendergraph of Dur ham came last wee't for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Alex ander. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Tyson and dau ghter Marie went to Hartsville, S. C,, on Monday. Mrs, Sallie Wilson, Mis. Joe Allred and little Jimmy Allred of Raeford visited the Chappell family Friday, Mrs, D. M. Cameron underwent an operation for the removal of a goiter in the Lee County Hospital Monday, and is getting along nicely. R. P. Beasley and Miss Katrina Beasley went to Apex Sunday and Miss Beasley remained for a week’s visit with her sister. Miss Mary Beas ley. Miss Rebecca Stewart of Cam eron is taking Miss Beasley’s place in the store. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde P. McMillan visited relatives in Selma during the week-end. Miss Doris Lassiter, after spend ing several weeks with lelatives here, has returned to her home near Smith- field. Miss Catharine McMillan, student nurse at Mary Elizabeth Hospital in Raleigh, came Sunday to spend a two weeks vacation with her father and sister, N A. McMulan and Miss Myr tle McMillan. Mrs. J. Lee Johnson and children, Mary Ina and Dwight, of Raleign, visited relatives in and near Vass during last week-end. Mrs. G. W. Brooks, Mrs. Bertie L. Matthews and Misses Jennie Cameion and Eloise Brooks visited their aunt, Mrs. Carlton Matthews, at Lemon Springs Sunday. Miss Margaret Lambert lentered the State Sanatorium last week for training. W. C. Byrd of Albemarle spent Sun day at the home of Mrs, J. A, Keith and was accompanied home by Mrs. Byrd and the children, who has been visiting here for some time. After spending two weeks in town, Misses Betty and Bli.ss Stanton re turned to their homes in South Caro lina Sunday, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gschwind, Howard and Tommy Gschwind. Little Barbara and Bobbie Jean Stanton returned with the Gschwinds for a visit. The Stan ton children are nieces of Mrs, Gsch wind. Miss Mary Davis Westcott of Man- teo, who is attending summer school in Greensboro, visited her sister, Mrs. D, A. Smith last week-end. A. M. Cameron, Miss Marian Cam eron and A. Mac Cameron joined Mrs. Cameron at the home of her par ents, Dr. and Mrs. J. F. McKay, at Buie's Creek Sunday and remained until Monday when Mrs. Cameron re turned home with them. Bernice Graham of Raleigh and Gerald Graham of Ruffin, S. C., were at home for a Fourth of July visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W, B. Graham, Mr, and Mrs. Relmond McCraney of Altamount spent the week-end with Mr, and Mrs, W. D, McCraney. Mr. and Mrs. A.
