at the Village church again Sunday
night and held the audience spell
bound throughout the service.
On last Friday a number of the
frienda of J. W. Frank came with all
Icind of presents—and those unable
to come sent in presents on the oc
casion of bis 74th birthday. It show
ed the high esteem in which this up
right man stands in the minds of the
people. Mr. Frank has been indispos
ed and kept indoors for the paat
year or two but is now apparently
improving.

OLD AGE PENSION CHECKS
According to figures compiled In
the office of the welfare superintend
ent of Moore county, 200 of the 268
persons whose applications for old
age assistance have been sent in to
Raleigh are now receiving checks,
the average amount of which is
$9.11.
Fifty-six families are receiving aid
for dependent children and their
checks average $15.65. There are 179
children in these families, making the
average amount per child $4.89.
There are many more applications
yet to be sent in.
