Mi-s Lenora Riggan has returned to Winston-Salem after spending a week at Graves Tourist Lodge. Miss Sylvia Pethick, of Southern Pines has been elected president of the pledge group of Sigma Kappa, national social sorority, at Duke Un- ivers'ity where she is a member of the Sophmore class in Woman’s College. Before entering Duke Miss Pethick attended the Shanghai American school in Shanghai, China, and Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Va. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pethick. Just how long a time this will take is uncertain buc regular activities wll be resumed as soon as possible. The Civic Club will hold its annual meeting on Friday, November 11, and will accept the invitation of a club member, Mrs. J. F. Morris, to her new home, The New England House, the former residence of Dr. Blair. Instead of the usual business meet ing, folowed by tea, the members are asked to come at 1:00 o’clock to a subscription luncheon, making this a family reunion. Each member will tell of her summer experiences, afia then help plan for a new year of usefulness to Southern Pines.
