SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSES APARTMENT HOUSE FIRE Personals Mr. and Mrs. Earl McDonald and ■on Earl Blue McDonald, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. J. Q. Reynolds visited Mrs. Lillias Brown in Sanford on Sunday. Mrs. L. A. Watts and son Law rence Watts, Jr., are spending this Tveek with relatives in Greenville, N. C An alarm of fire sounded at 5:30 o’clock Monday evening hurried the apparatus of the Southern Pines Fire Company to the Case apartments, lo cated on Ashe street, where a short circuit in the wiring of an apartment in the rear of the building had filled many of the rooms with a dense and suffocating smoke- The firemen promptly located the- seat of the fire in the partitioning of a closet in the kitchen on the first floor, and were able to extinguish the flames with a minimum of damage to the apartments directly affected. Seate was fund dead in his office in Raeford last Thursday night, a bullet hole through his head. A .38 calibre revolver lay beside him, and it was evident to authorities that he had shot himself.
