Alton McNeill, son of Rob McNeill of Vass, was struck on the lower forehead between the eyea by a. block while working at the Stutts- Taylor lumber plant Monday after noon and was badly inured. He was taken immediately to the Lee Coun ty Hospital. Mrs. Ida Patterson of W^inston- Salem^ well-known throughout this, her old home, community, was oper ated on for appendicitis on Monday of last Week and on Tuesday suffer ed a stroke of paralysis affecting her left side.
