Mr. Burt, a member of the post urged the train ing of groups under’ doctors and nurses to give first aid, young men to train in garages for servicing mo tors and machinery, others to train under firemen in combating fires, also groups to be trained under the leadership of the police. Mr. Burt also stated that there are orpanizations in this country made up of former German army soldiers that are carrying on fifth tolumn ac tivities under cover. The American Legion is working with the FBI along these lines. A resolution, requesting the commander to head a committee to work with the other organizations was passed. Allred of Aberdeen, for merly Chevrolet dealer there, has been appointed Oldsmobile agent for Southern Pines and vicinity, and will make his agency headquarters with the Page Motor Company on the cor ner of Fast Broad street and New Hampshire avenue. The General Mo tors product has not been represent ed here previously. Mr. Allred Is well known throughout the section. The regular semi-monthly meeting ci the Junior Civic Club was held on Tuesday night at the Civic Club. At the business session preceeding the social hour plans were discussed for the annual banquet and as this meeting was the fiist one of the year, the dirist^nas Bureau was one of the main topics. Four tables of cards were in play and prizes were awarded to Mi.ss Mary Tinsley and Mrs. J. D. Hobbs. Miss Mary Blo.*^! Carter was cut about the face and head. He was treated in Lee County Hospital, and later released. The car was considerably damaged. Peggy returned to school this week but Virginia is still unable to be out Mrs. J. F. Morris, Mrs. Charles Grey and Mrs. L. D. McDonald spent Tuesday in Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Beach Cooke arrived this morning from Cooperstown, N. V., to be the guests of Mrs. A. Burt Hunt over the week-end. They are enroute to Santa Barbara, Calif., for an indefinite stay. The regular meeting of the Wo man’s Society of the Church of Wide Fellowship will be held in the church parlor on Thursday, January 23rd at 3:30 o’clock. Group 2 is in charge of the program. The Fellowship Forum met for its monthly business meeting last Mon day night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hoskins. Progium lead ers were appointed, a dramatic skit was di.scu.ssed, and reports were heard from the various committees.
