C.. spent the week-end at his home here. W. S. Bushby returned Monday from a week's vacation spent at Kezar Falls, Me- Mrs. L. L. Hatch spent several days last week in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Dorn and Mrs. IL. L. Woolley spent Wednesday and Thursday of last week in Manteo where they attended the showing- of ' the Lost Colony. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Welch left Sunday night for a two-week buying trip to New York City. Misses Ethel and Ella Jones re turned Friday from a two-week va cation at Black Mountain. Mrs. E. Levis Prizer and daughter. Catherine, returned Friday from a trip of -several weeks to Baltimore, Md.. and other northern points. John Connell and Gerald Dutton returned last week from a week’s va cation spent in Richmond, Va. Mr. and Mrs. George C. Moore and daughter, Jane, returned last week from several weeks spent in Boston, Mass., where they visited Mrs. Moore’s mother, Mrs. E. E. Copeland. They also spent some time in Maine with Mrs. Carlton Wicker, and tour ed the other five New England States and stopped over in Pennsyl vania before returning home. Dr. E. W. Bush, who with his two children, Elinor and Stephen, spent 10 days in Washington ,D. C., has returned home. Miss Caroline Lewis, who spent several days last week visiting her mother, Mrs. Bruce H. Lewis, left Sunday to resume her work in Wash ington, D. C. Mrs. E. J. McCarr and daughter, Mary, w'ho attended the wedding of Adrian McCarr, son of Mrs. McCarr at Bethlehem, Pa., last week return ed Saturday. Mrs. Frank Schmelzer accompanied them as far as Han over, Pa., where she visited Mrs. Paul Wright, returning with the McCarr’s on Saturday. Dr. G G. Herr and daughter. Sie ger, left Tuesday to spend a 10-day vacation in Waterbury, Conn., with Dr. Herr’s brother. Dr. F. W. Herr. Mr. and Mrs. Bynum Patterson entertained a group of friends last Saturday night at a spaghetti supper. Those enjoying the hospitality were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Golden, Dante Monte- santi and Mr. and Mrs. Carl G. Thompson Jr. Mr. and Mrs. George London had as their guests over the week-end, Henry London of Winston-Salem. He was accompanied by Tom and Nor man Stevenson also of Winston-Sa lem, who spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Leland McKeithen at their home on Midland Road. The visitors enjoyed golf with their hosts over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Kivett and son, Everett, returned Monday from a week spent at Myrtle Beach. Capt. and Mrs. Alan Innea-Taylor departed Monday for the North Car olina Mountains where they plan to spend a week vacationing. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Newcomb of Charlotte spent several days re cently as guests of Mr, and Mrs. Harlow Pearson. Miss Ruby Hall and her mother, Mrs. Reid Hall, spent a week in the North Carolina mountaina, returning last Wednesday. Miss Ruby atisumed her duties at the Carter’s Laundry on Mondya. , Miss Allie McIntosh returned Mon- lay from a trip to the Western part of the state. The Misses Mary Wilkerson, Ruth Hall and Ruby Hall spent a week re cently at Myrtle Beach. Miss Jane Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Moore is entet- ing St. Mary’s sehool at Raleigh next Wednesday, enrolling as a jun ior in high school. Mrs. J. D. Hensley, chief operator at the Central Carolina Telephone Comipany, is away on a two-week vacation. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Worsham and family returned Tuesday from a two-week trip to Petersourg, Va., Richmond, Va., and Miami, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Adam.i and daughters, Eleanor and Jean, left Monday for Harrisburg, Pa., after spending a week with Mrs. Adams’ sister, Mrs Russell J. Lorenson and Mr. Lorenson. Mrs. Dennis Greene has returnsd to her home at Blowing Rock, after spending a few weeks with her sis ter-in-law, Mrs. John Absher. Mrs. L. D. McDonald has had as her guest for a week Mrs. Moran and daughter of Erie, Pa. They departed Wednesday for their home with Mrs. McDonald and her son, Lyle, accom panying them as far as Washington, D. C. Miss Millie Montesanti was hostess to a number of her friends on Mon day night at her home. Three tables of bridge were in play and guests were the Misses Olive Hennessee. Mr. and Mrs. George Straka and children returned Monday from a week’s trip to Washington, D. C., via Skyline Drive, Virginia Beach and Winchester, Va. Mrs. Dolly Crosby spent Tuesday in Raleigh.
