An "all out" program is offered at the Carolina Theatre for the week of September 14, when the most talked- of attraction of the year, "Citizen Kane," with Orson Welles, will come to Pinehurst, Sunday September 14, at 8:30 and to Southern Pines, Mon- aay and Tuesday, September 15, 16, at 8:20 p. m. It is entirely the work pf Welles, in production, supervi.sion and dircetion, and collaboration on screenplay. As a writer and actor he is superb. The controversy, which made news headlines speculating on the possibility that this film might n.?ver be released, fits in magnificent ly with this wholly "different,” even revolutionary, film. It is the dynamic, keyed-to-concert-pitch type of drama which this author-actor-director has displayed in his stage and radio offer ings. The running time is 120 minutes which suggests the advisability of be- in^r in your seats on time. Second nttraction for the week, is also the second production of George Bfrnard Shaw, whose "Pygmalion" delighted theatre goers. This time it is “Major Barbara,” produced and di- lected by Gabriel Paschal who gave us "Pygmalion,” and again starring W'ondy Hiller, supported by Rex Har rison and Robert Morley, remember ed for excellent work in "Marie An- tionette." Tlie sarcastic wit of George Bernard Shaw together with the directional genius of Gabriel Pascal, make "Major Barbara” a top ranking production. "Major Barbara" comes to Southern Pines Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 17, 18- This is 122 minutes long and folks who are Ipte will miss something. The climax of the week, is "Sun Valley Serenade" on Friday and Sat urday, Sept. 19, 20. with a Saturday matinee. Starring Sonja Henie, smartly paced with romancc, jive, laughter, dancing, skating and skiing, set in the colorful background of Sun \ alley and enhanced by strong pro duction values, "Sun Valley Serenade” is a musical which will ring the bell strongly and loudly wherever it is shown. Added to the cast are John Payne, Milton Berle. Lynn Bari, Joan Davis, for some extra comedy and the Nicholas Brothers for a smash dance routine. The customary ice bal let is enhanced by a spectacular set ting of black ice. ii ^ l£, SOUTHERN PINES, N- C- Y E 8 - - - We Have Plenty of Silk Stocking’s Also SOME NYLONS FOR YOUR FALL DRESS CHOOSE NcPIullen Classics L’Aig-lon Tailored Frocks, American Golfers, Lynn Grey $6.95 to $35.00 Top them with a DOBBS Hat Store Hours: 8:1.t to .'5:.30 Saturday ft A.
