THE PILOT, Southern Pines, North Carolina Page Ftvt “BLACKOUT” NOT LEGAL IN MOORE Negro Fined for Driving Wagon Without Lights; Two An gles to Trespass Case An unauthorized “blacltout” land ed Onnie Davis, Niagara Negro, in Recorder’s Court Monday, where he was given a 60-day suspended road sentence, and charged costs. Davis pleaded guilty to operating a wagon on a State highway at night without lights. Found guilty or trespassing on the premises of Alf Cagle, Joe Alston, Southern Pines Negro, was given a 30- day road sentence, suspended upon payment of the costs and condition that he stay away from Cagle’s home unless invited there by Cagle himself. In another case, Joe Alston and Mary Cagle, found guilty of immoral conduct, were given 30 days each, suspended upon payment of the costs. Alfred Jensen of Southern Pines was found guilty of driving at an ex cessive rate of speed in Carthage. Prayer for judgment was continued, on payment of costs. William A. Shamburger and Alex Caviness, Hemp Negoes, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of illicit whiskey and transporting. They paid costs and their three months sentences were suspended upon condition that they not violate the prohibition laws during the next 12 months. J. L. Sawyer of Southern Pines paid $50 and costs, and a 60-day road sentence imposed for careless, drunlt- en and reckless driving was suspend ed. His license was revoked for a year. Archie McMillan, Addor Negro, was found not gruilty of cruelty to a dumb animal, namely, beating and mistreat- Nadame et La Jeune Fille VILLAGE COURT, PINEHURST GIFTS ' ing a mule. Julius Peterson, charged with i drunken driving, failed to answer I when called and his $100 bond was I ordered forfeited. Chester Leak failed to answer to a charge of carrying a concealed weapon, and his bond of $50 also was forfeited. Ralph Caviness, Negro of Norman, found guilty of careless, reckless and drunken driving, drew a 60-day road sentence, suspended upon payment of $50 and costs. His license was revoked for a year. jAmes H. Chappell of Fort Bragg plefided guilty of careless and reckless driving resulting in an accident. His 60-day sentence was to be suspended upon payment of $25 fine and costs, it appearing that he had agreed to pay the damage to the automobile of the prosecuting witness. George Ransom, Pinehurst Negro, was given 60 days for the larceny of “•asoline, from the property of 'R. T. Davis. Jerry Bogan, Pinenurst Negro, was given three months for striking Willie Gaines in the face and threatening to kill him. Frank Little pleaded not guilty of breaking and entering the barn of Tohn Chalmers Shaw and stealing corn. A nolle pros with leave was tak en. John D. Walker, another defend ant. was not taken.
