Bridge Hostess Mrs. George C. Moore of Massa chusetts avenue was hostess to sev eral of her friends last Friday when she entertained at a bridge lunch eon. Among those enjoying the aft ernoon were Mrs. J. J. Spring, Mrs. Milliken, Mrs. E. V. Perkinson, Mrs. O. E. Hedge, Mrs. Howard Williams and Mrs. E. Levis Prizer. At the con clusion of- the afternoon prizes for high scores were presented to Mrs. Spring and Mrs. Hedge. Formal Dance Several members of the younger set enjoyed dancing recently when Miss Nancy Ragan invited a few of her friends to the Saturday night iormal dance in the Officers Club at Knollwood Field. Among her guests were Miss Kay Stevick, Miss Marty J&mes. Miss Joan Steuart, Miss Nancy Ruth Osborne, Herbert Carson Delamar Mann, Bobby Dunn. Jimmy deßerry and Jimmy Hill. Miss Joan' Steuart, Miss Nancy Ragan and John Neal were guests of Herbert Carson at last Saturday night's formal dance. Birthday Party Royal Scott Brown, son of Cape, and 'Mrs. Joseph Lee Brown, cele brated his third birthday last Sat urday afternoon by having as his guests Tommy Miller, Johnny Orms by, Diane Clinton, his brother Jef frey and their mothers. During the refreshment hour the young guests were seated at a table just the right height for small people. At each places were favors of yellow bas kets and wooden animals, a paper hat and matching bib. These were made by Royal's grandmother, Mrs. Inez Brown. Among the good things to eat was a pretty birthday cake bearing three lighted candles. Mrs. Harry Van Wickle of Phelps, N. Y., and Miss Lucille Grover also at tended the party. Birth Announcements Captain and Mrs. John W. Lund berg, Jr., of Greensboro announce the birth of a daughter, Lucinda, weighing eight pounds and one ounce, Saturday, June 19. 1943. Capt. and Mrs. Lundberg were residents of Southern Pines when Capt. Lund berg was stationed at Fort Bragg. Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson of Ridge street announce the birth of a son, weight six pounds, nine and one-half ounces, on Sunday, June 20, 1943, at Moore County Hos pital. Born to Mr. and Mrs. L. Noel Mer rett a daughter, Carol Anne. Thurs day, June 3, 1943, at Moore County Hospital. While Mr. Merrett is at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, in special training, Mrs. Mer rett is making her home with Mr Merrett's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ne ville Merrett of South May street. Hostess on Birthday Miss Burlein Garner entertained s number of friends at her home in Niagara Wednesday evening. June 16, the occasion being her seven teenth birthday. The guests enjoyed games and dancing, and Miss Gar ner was the recipient of many lovely and useful gifts. Her only ornament was a bracelet, which had been worn by her mother and grandmother at their weddings.
