Backers Predict
Record Vote For
Lee Candidate
Dr. F. W. McCracken, promi
nent Sanfor dentist and chairman
of the Homer-For-Congress club,
organized to boost the candidacy
of W. E. (Bill) Horner, who seeks
the Eighth District Congressional
seat, forecast on Monday a record
vote »of more than 5,000 in Lee
county in the Democratic pri
mary, May 25. Dr, McCracken
predicted that Horner, veteran
Lee legislator, would receive 90
percent of his home county vote.
“We have had by far the heav
iest registration in history,” Dr.
McCracken pointed out. “Lee
county has cast 4,500 votes in
years past, and with interest in
Honer’s candidacy at high pitch,
I believe we will easily surpass
the frequently predicted figure
of 5,000.”
Horner has visited every coun
ty in the district many times dur
ing the past several weeks. Ac
cording to Dr. McCracken, has a
“going organization” in every
corner of the district.
Carolina, Dr. Weirick said, vete
rans in need of out-patient treat
ment for service-connected disa
bilities may be treated in their
own home-towns by a doctor of
their choice, if there is no VA
clinic there.
In announcing that the recently
signed contract is now in effect,
the VA Medical Officer empha
sized that this - private medical
care is for service-connected dis
abilities only, and that authoriza
tion must be obtained for the
treatment in advance.
Authorization may be obtained
at the Winston-Salem Office, or
through the VA sub-regional or
contact offices. Dr. Weirick said.
