Engagement and
Coming Marriage of
Miss Heins Announced

Elizabeth Heins to Francis
Marion Kay of Columbia, S. C.,
when she was guest of honor at
a charming bridge party and mis
cellaneous shower given by Miss
Kate and Miss Bess McIntyre,
Miss Aline Todd and Miss Pauline
Miller Thursday evening of last
week. Miss Heins is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Heins of
Blythewood, S. C., and the vows
will be spoken in Blythewood on
June 15th.
Arrangements of spring flow
ers were used by the hostesses in
decorating their apartment in the
Manor building. After the bridge
game delightful refreshments of
ice cream molded into wedding
bells and rings, small decorated
cakes and a fruit drink were serv
ed to the guests, and small bags
of white satin filled with rice
were received as favors. *
Shower gifts were presented
to the bride-elect following the
service of refreshments. As an
honor gift from the hostesses
Miss Heins received a set of eight
glasses beautifully hand painted
with dogwood blossoms. Trous
seau gifts were presented to Miss
Margaret Palmer and Miss Hattie
Barber who will also be summer

Jones-Montesanti Vows

Miss Marian Jane Jones, dau
ghter of Mrs. Edith Jones of
Clarks Green, Pa., and the late
Stuart Edgar Jones, became the
bride of Antonio J. Montesanti,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Mon
tesanti of Southern Pines, Thurs
day evening, May 16, in Scranton,
Pa. The vows vrere spoken in- the

with members of the bride’s fam
ily present.
The bride selected a navy blue
suit of light weight wool with
white accessories and white straw
hat, and a shoulder corsage of
white gardenias for her marriage.
Since her graduation from Scot
land School, Scotland, Pa., in 1942
Mrs. Montesanti has worked with
the Teachers Retirement Board in
brother in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Dante Montesanti, for sev
eral weeks, left Monday night to
return to her home. Her young
niece, Adrienne Montesanti, went
with her for a visit with her ma
ternal grandparents.

Insurance Company in Raleigh
and is now working at Massachu
setts Institute of Tephnology in
Boston.
Mr. Forrester is on the research
staff of M. I. T., where he re
ceived a Master’s Degree after
graduating from the University
of Nebraska.
The wedding is planned for

Humphries in the manse on Ben
nett Street, Sunday evening, after
the Forum service. A jolly hour
and tasty refreshments were en
joyed by the guests and their
hosts.
Music Festival Held
At Southern Pines
The Annual Music Festival
under the direction of Miss Hattie
Barber, was held Tuesday Night,
May 21st in the Southern Pines
first through the seventh grades
participated in the program.
/Joe Smith, from the fourth
grade, sang a speciality number,
.‘The Brahms Lullaby”.
The Choral group consisting of
selected voices from the fifth,
sixth and seventh grades sang
three selections; “Eight Psalm”,
Peaceful Night”, and “Now The
Day is Over”.
Very well received by the large
audience were the four selections
rendered by the High School Glee
Club. These included “Sea Fever”,
‘All the Things You Are”, “The
Road Is Calling” and “O Danny
Boy” (Girls -Chorus Only).
The finale Was “America” sung
by all the pupils.
