HARRINGTON Joe J. Harrington, 52, of Cam eron, died suddenly Friday after noon at Carthage, Route 2. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Harrington of Moore County. He held a position at McKeithen’s Store, Cameron. He was married to the former Miss Mina B. Bowden. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Fields and Mrs. Herman Dowdy, both of Sanford, and one brother, L. B. Harrington of Aberdeen. Funeral services were held on Sunday morning at 11 o’clock from the Cameron Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. C. M. Voyles, pastor of ' the church. Interment was in the Cameron Cemetery. EDWIN WARNER BARTON Edwin Warner Barton, 87, a resident of Southern Pines and Ni agara for the past 33 years, died early Friday morning, June 14th, in Watts Hospital, Durham, fol lowing a brief illness. Born in Gramy, Mass., March 30, 1859, son of the late James H. Barton and Susan (Warner) Bar ton, Mr. Barton came from Springfield,, Mass, to Niagara in 1913 and to Southern Pines in 1923. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Evelyn John stone whom he married in Springfield in 1912, a son by his first wife, George Barton of Tulsa, Okla., a brother, Homer R. Barton of Springfield, a sis ter, Mrs. E. D. Burnham of South Windsor, Vt., and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the J. N. Powell Funeral Home at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon. They were conducted by Miss Carrie Connely, First Reader of the Christian Science Church of Southern Pines. The body was accompanied north by Mrs. Bar ton Tuesday night for interment in Forest Dales cemetery, Holy oke,, Mass., where Masonic rites were held at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, June 20th. JAMES COLIN McArthur James Colin McArthur, age 46, died suddenly at his home in Car thage, Thursday morning, June 13, at 6:45 from a heart attack Except for occasional attacks of asthma, he had been in good health up until the time of the attack which proved fatal. He was the son of the late J. F. McArthur and Mrs. McAr thur of Carthage, being born in Staley, N. C., and moving to Car thage early in life. Services were from the home and interment was made in Cross Hill Cemetery. Mr. McArthur is survived by his widow, the former Catherine O’Neal of Seattle, Wasn., and two daughters. Miss Catherine Jessie McArthur, who is with the Vet eran’s Bureau in Winston-Salem, and Shirley Ann, of the home. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. J. F.
